and my car is 49 state legal even with the parts installed and blows clean.
Didn't you hear the US now has as much oil as the Middle East from shale discoveries.

Sorry not buying it.
there is no reason not to have them unless racecar or not equipped from the factory.

um I have no idea what you are talking about. the car is 100% in compliance with all states that require emissions testing and OE equipment.
only Cali since my parts do not have CARB stickers.

Texas DOES require yearly testing and I am compliant here.
sorry I specifically made sure I would have no issues before installing any parts that I was legal.
The emissions equipment was NOT touched and the cats were replaced with legal high flow versions.

Ok do you understand that by you relocating the stock position of the cats your car technically is now "off road" and is technically illegal as far as the "EPA" is concerned, will you pass your state emission testings? Sure as long as your tune is correct and you have NO "CEL" lights you'll be fine. You think that your headers are 49state legal? Lol HELL no they will never carry a carb certification especially your cam bud. No need to get mad or anything it's just the truth.

Yep. By EPA laws if emission devices have been removed, moved or altered they are no longer compliant. I worked for Midas for years as an ase certified under car specialist that includes exhaust systems certification.

Yes, I'm running Coated Kooks long tubes with HFC's without a tune.(B&B 3" catback) have been running with them about 2,000 miles and CEL came on about 2 or 3 weeks after the install! I just got a EFI Live,(very good deal) so I will be tuned very soon!

I've got Cat-back aftermarket exhaust only....If cats reduce pollution, that's fine...I believe if you take them off and are pulled over, and the exhaust is looked over by a savvy officer, or you take it in for an emissions inspection and you have no cats,...the fine is huge, your car is impounded, and you may not get it back. It's federal law and not worth the risk to me..good luck if you do....

you'll have to go see your tuner first to pass TX inspection

Correct...

...and in Texas you cannot have more than one "not ready" code, meaning if you turn your O2 sensors off to avoid a CEL that's 2 and you won't pass. I see these guys get their new cars with a 2 year inspection from the dealer totally forget about this stuff until they have to get the inspection done.

I wanted a dyno tune but I shopped around in my area and the problem was that I wanted more control of my stock file and didn't want to have to return to the tuner should I need to return to stock for whatever reason. I know....just do it and don't look back (I have read enough of your posts) but I am not as hard-core as you....at least not yet.

Thanks for all the good posts though. I have learned and confirmed a lot by them.

Lol ahh gotcha, if you have a handheld or if you get one your tuner can also save that file in your handheld so you can switch it back to stock as well. Some hold up to 3 tunes. But that's all good bud!!

Hope it makes lots of powa!! Keep us posted!

That's exactly what I did. I already had an SCT X3 and the only dyno tuner I trusted had an EFI setup. My tune is on order as of a couple of minutes ago. I should have it before the end of the week and will be testing on the butt-dyno shortly thereafter! After that, I will find a dyno and do a couple of pulls just so I have an idea of numbers.
