Removing Engine Covers
So who beside myself is going to remove the engine covers as soon as they get their cars? I like to see the motor and I believe the cover tends to hold in heat. Engine covers are for imports IMHO.

I have my engine cover on right now, but I remove it when I want my car to run its best.
There are two covers. One covers the engine and the second one covers the intake. The intake cover looks just like the intake. If you look closely at your intake, it has a cover over it. To remove the one over the intake you have to raise up the fuel rails. Here's my car with both covers off. And when we removed the covers hot air came shooting out. So yes, the engine covers trap a lot of hot air on top on the intake. |

I removed mine right away. Hung it on the garage wall. Don't like the trapped heat here in sunny Arizona. Besides... Enginge covers are for Cadillacs.

I might be wrong......
The engine cover, shields on the exhaust etc. makes me wonder if they are there for a reason. Keep in mind the hood is NOT metal. -bobby

Hood not metal?
Everything that I have read says the hood is made of aluminum (a metal).

Hmmm...when I asked the question, I thought I'd catch a lot of flack for wanting to remove the covers. It sounds like a lot of you are on board with my thinking that too much heat is being retained by the covers. I for one live in "stinking hot Texas" and will be immediately removing mine upon delivery of the car.

I doubt GM would put them on if they killed performance. Why would they pay someone to design a part that did no good? (Rhetorical question)
