Could be a few things, possible power steering pump, or the steering rack that's causing it. I've also heard of contaminated fluid causing a moan when steering.

first off,welcome to C5.i have a 2010 and it does the same thing.hope someone has an answer.i took it to the dealer and as usual,it did not do it.

I have a 2011 RS v6. Same issue, steering column moans when turning. I also feel some resistance during that time.
