Regular gas in premium tanks

Just for info, i was listening on the radio and tonight on the cbs news they will be discussing and interviewing gas stations that are filling there so called premium tanks with regular gas because of surplus and robbing u of what u pay for.. and makes your car switch to the lower octane settings

Is that on the local CBS (KLFY?) or on with Katie "I'm so cheery I make you puke" Curic?

gas stations have been doing this for years. how are they testing the fuel to know who they should be interviewing?

I saw a story about this on one of the local news stations here in H-Town about this going on locally. Total BS to be screwed over paying the premium price and getting the lower grade.

Ahh...ok. They are probably just re-hashing this story for the ratings then. Stay away from the no-name stop-and-rob stations and you should be ok.

They got mini tests for pregnancy, antifreeze, and just about everything. I'd sure like to have one for octane. Its about time we could call these sorry SOB's out and shut them down.

Ruby has never had anything but "Shell" Premium gasoline in her. Hopefully they are not one of the ones doing that.

I watched as a gas tank truck driver hooked up to the Shell station tanks I was at once.... I wondered then "what keeps them from getting the hoses mixed up?" Looks like a bunch of hoses crossing over each other randomly... guess they have a way to tell which hose goes to which tank. ???

All we can do is buy gasoline at large reputable stations... even then, we can't be certain we get what we pay for.

Am am currently in my 3rd career as a Fuel Tanker Driver.
The company I work for is an independent carrier and as such, it is the DRIVER'S responsibility to ensure the proper product gets put in the ground/tank. Yes, it can get confusing when you are dropping 12,200 gallons of product out of 5 different sections on one tanker.

Most times a driver will take and drop the smallest odd amount he has on the rig and that is usually a 1500 gallon drop of premium or no-lead plus. You take care of that first to ensure that you are dropping into the right tank. You check your site map, you check the color of the rings on the ground and the tank covers. If so equipt, you check the tag inside the cover to ensure that it is right as a double check, THEN you drop the product.

As a driver, my dispatch is pretty clear and concise. I know what I have to load, I have to authorize it at the load rack, and then I have to deliver it.
