Plastic tapping sound from under passenger dash

At least that's where I think it's coming from. It's driving me crazy. Has anyone else had this happen? Sounds like something very small. I've pressed on everything I can think of. It must be under the dash.

How about something rattling inside the glove box? I've got a bunch of stuff in there and when I open the glove-box it stops. Just haven't gotten to straightening out the glove box yet, something else always comes up and I forget to do it.

Hi seminole, have you had the time to have your dealer take a look at the vehicle or are you looking to take care of this yourself? It should be a rather quick process for them to diagnose and resolve this issue for you so you can be noise free roaring down the road. Let me know how you want to proceed with this. I'd like to help you if I can.

Seminole...I have something that sounds similar. It almost sounds like the front passneger tire is throwing up rock into the wheel well. But it only does it for like 20 seconds after start up and than its gone. Is this what your talking about?

By the way...Scalp 'em Noles

I hear the same thing every morning I take off in my car. It usually quits by the time I make it out of my neighborhood, lasts around a minute. I don't have much in my glovebox, just the owners manual and insurance info, and I always make sure it's closed all the way when I open it, so I know that's not it.

Seminolejon, i just had a similar situation. I dropped the glove box, take it off hinges, above the glove box is the plastic cover for the onstar, and battery, this cover was missing a screw..allowing the cover to just fall enough onto the top of glove box when it was closed..making a tapping sound.. give that a try..hope it helps. maybe its just a loose screw? good luck..ryd

I had a monte carlo a few years ago with a noise that was driving me crazzzzzzy and was told by the tech "What do you expect a cadillac" I even got the owner involved. I found myself I had the parking brake cable rubbing against the fender -

seminolejon - I have the same issue. There is a plastic tapping sound coming from the passenger side of my dash. It seems to get worse in cold weather. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and they have yet to find the cause. Were you able to pin down the source?
