Camaro seems hazy after polishing
After watching the adams pc videos and junkman's. I decided to buy a pc polishing set for my black Camaro. I used the shr and the fine polish. Looked awesome in the garage and was able to get rid of the dealer swirls. I took it out in the setting sun and noticed if I got up close to the paint, the paint is hazy. From a distance looks fine but up close in the sunlight there is no depth to the paint. What gives?

You didn't finish the process, you need to at least throw some wax on it, or glaze first

Wax won't fix the haze fellas. He needs to refine it more with FMP.

Hey paj -
If you stopped at polish the paint isn't gonna have much 'pop' to it, but it shouldn't be hazy. If you're working in cold or damp conditions sometimes the fine machine polish can leave residue behind... a wipe down with isopropyl alcohol or even a little detail spray should remedy it. You should though, definitely get some protection down on the paint after you finish. |

After i was done polishing i applied glaze, buffed with microfiber then applied buttery wax and buffed again. I tried to use some detail spray on the paint and it didn't seem to help the haze. Did i over work the polish? I polished till it flashed. I was careful not to overwork it, have never done this before. There is an area on the bottom of the front bumper that I didn't polish and that area is not hazy in the sunlight. I really don't know what happened, I put an "X" amount of polish on the pad spread it evenly then worked it in.

You don't buff the brilliant glaze. It just wipes off. Were you applying wax by hand or with the PC?

I never checked what the car looked like in the sun after each stage of polishing. It looked good in the garage so I figured why bother. Could it be what was posted earlier, that maybe i need to fmp some more? If you just shr a car, will that finish look a little hazy in sunlight?

Glaze and wax were applied by hand and removed with adams double soft towels.

Yes I understand that if you use shr you need to follow with the finer polish. I was just wondering if the shr left the paint hazy in the sunlight, meaning if the answer was yes then maybe i didn't work the fmp to its full potential. If the shr doesn't look hazy in the sunlight then I'm back to the drawing board.

I honestly don't know. You're not supposed to detail in direct sunlight

you just have some residue left over from the FMP, it happens. I was instructed to use a cleaner polish such as revive polish after the FMP to clean it up. I will report my results but several others have used this method with success. Or you can wipe down with alcohol.
