Who Has Kooks
And why did you go with them? After what I've searched on here there are three US made LT's that seemed to be favorered by the majority and of the three I'm leaning towards Kooks. Was curious as to people's opinions and experience with them.
Thanks |

Kooks, Stainless Works and ARH are the top tier headers. We use Kooks on most of our builds. I really like their ball flange and new clamping system which provide a low profile, leak-free connection. You really can't go wrong with any of the headers listed, but Kooks are the best bang for the buck IMO.
Feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions. Best regards, Tyler 888-308-6007 |

Kook's stepped headers, great price coated matte black from Maryland Speed. Tipping point for me was the extra O2 bung on the Bank 1 side for my WB.
New OEM gaskets.

I wanted to go with the Pfadt tri-y headers until they went out of business. After that happened, I chose the Kooks because several people in the local club were using them with great results. I don't trust the cheap China made headers and I know people choose Stainless Power and Texas Speed because they are the cheapest quality header on the market. With that being said, for only a couple hundred dollars more you can pick up a set of Kooks and know it's American made in North Carolina. The fitment and quality is great. I installed mine myself with a jack and some stands, reusing my GM gaskets in just a few hours. I would recommend anyone who wants a quality header to go with them.

I chose Kooks Coated Long Tubes for the Quality! They are easy to install, fit good, sound good and look good! After about 2 years and 15,000 miles, they look as new as the day I installed them! If you choose to go with Kooks, You won't be disappointed!!

Yup...kooks fan. Fit finish and leak free after the first few heat cycles.

I fit fat 2" primary kooks with no problemo. As stated before, reuse the factory gasket.

While I agree on using factory gaskets...I used new factory gaskets...not reused. Probably didn't matter, but for me it's piece of mind and they're cheap.
I've got over 50K on my Kooks headers, they fit great. No clearance or heat issues with anything...they're great headers. I am not all that impressed with the fit of the complete exhaust though. I've got the Kooks catted 3" system that hooks direct to the Kooks headers. The exhaust tips are BARELY sticking through my rear valance, but every slip joint leaks a little because they're not slid together far enough, sliding them together far enough locates the tips completely in front of/inside of the rear valance...no good. The passenger side pipe bends that should go around the transmission crossmember don't...they're too far forward and would hit the crossmember...so the pipe has to be adjusted a little lower than I think is necessary, and causes it to rub ever so slightly on some speed bumps...and it pushes the X-pipe down a little lower than I'd like. I love the way the car sounds with the complete system on it though. I've been through a few exhaust revisions, I'm very happy with the sound from this one.

Well I guess that settles it!!
Looks like I'm going with Kooks, thanks for the feedback gents, it made that decision painless. And thanks for the heads up on the exhaust gaskets, will stick with OEM. |
