2" primaries on a street car, that seems rather large? I run those on my race car, 421ci spinning 8400rpm, and I always wonder if I went too large with those N/A. On the bottle they were fine, but now, I was thinking of a stepped 1 7/8 to 2" would be better.
Anyone have chassis dyno pulls with different size headers? Doubt anyone would go through the trouble to try three different size headers on the same car. |

I run TSP 1 7/8 they fit great and have no clearance issues. No "dimples" here

Yeah, I saw that, but would rather see the curves. From what I see there, it isn't really worth the hassle trying to get larger primaries in there, unless maybe you have a blower. While the torque average is a tad higher with each step-up in size, I bet the peak power rpm is also moving-up, not something I would really want to do in an everyday car. I want as much torque as possible below 4000. These cars need a blower, or a diet.

We have tons of guys using the TSP headers & most of them go with the 1 7/8" primaries. The boost guys however really love the 2" setups. I've also seen 2" setups pickup power on the cam & heads/cam combos. It really depends a lot on your ultimate goals for power.

'10 2SS 6M, Blacked out everything, K&N intake, Superchip, Flowmaster Outlaw exhaust, Eibach multi pro R1 coilovers, 20in CCW 505A, Pilot super sports...more in the future.
Just something else to add. I'd recommend ordering high flow cats with your headers. Those Flowmaster Outlaws are going to be VERY loud once you've added a cam.

IMHO ,if you want 2 inch go with 2 inch and ,then IF they are too close / rub the steering shaft take them off heat them with a torch and carefully adjust that 1 tube .No need to use a hammer and be a caveman . 90% of the time if your motor mounts are good they fit fine. The car is a 2010 and if you drive it hard the motor mounts are already suspect . BMR makes a good mount ,and now would be a perfect time to upgrade anyway . You Florida guys got it made ,my buddy Joe just told me he got 92 octane at $ 2.94 a gallon in Clearwater .

So I'm leaning towards TSP, either 1 7/8" or 2", being that they are the same price and there really isn't ant performance difference. Of course the 1 7/8" may be a better choice for "fitment" and hopefully no manhandling needed to make them fit. To add fuel to the fire...I won't be tuning right away, other than my superchip for now. I know that is not the best and I wont see the full potential/power of the headers without a proper dyno tune. But I also have a few more mods I would like to do and then tune for them all at one time. I can live with the check engine light on for a lil bit.

On this topic, my job has repositioned me to S. NJ area. I am searching for a shop that can and will install a set of L/ T headers...;however, is not going to charge rediculous installation fees. One example $600. I have the intelligence and means to conduct this procedure; thus, I lack time due to my job.
Guidance appreciated, |

I had the 17/8" headers. No dimples and plenty of room to spare.
