Im wondering if this exist? Im needing to invest in a polisher. Ive had my black car for a year now, its never been polished, waxed only once when I first got it, and my swirls are getting really bad. Problem is I dont have a garage, currently using my own soap, buckets, ect at local car wash..

If they exist, you won't be able to find one that has the power/life that you would need to do real work. Stick with the cord.

have to agree with this. The motor just demands too much energy.

don't need a garage (if the weather is decent). Once the car is clean drive it home and polish it in your driveway (or street with a long extension cord)! You may need to do a quick No Rinse wash if anything got on it while driving home, then polish away.

There are a few out there and they just don't have the power one is looking for, I recommend getting a cord machine like the Porter Cable 7424XP Dual Action Polisher or the Griot's Garage 6" Random Orbital Polisher from the Autopia Car Care Store.. Also you can shop around for a used canopy and use it when detailing your ride.

Thanks for the advice guys. The main issue is no power source, I ,may have to result to the extension chord

Just make sure you spend money and buy a HEAVY GAUGE extension cord, your polisher manual should lay out what gauge is needed for what length - I know Junkman posted that info here a while back.

can't stress this enough!

Also, don't buy a bigger than 50 foot extension cord. I've heard of people having power drops that cause the machine to slow down if you do that.

Actually, you can go up to 100 feet according to Porter Cable. Where people run into problems is when they either buy the wrong gauge extension cord or they plug into a outlet that already has too much stuff on that circuit and they end up starving the polisher of current. The instructions that come with your PC lay out exactly what gauge to buy according to length.

Another option might be to try a power inverter. But it would probably mean running your car to avoid killing the battery. And that might introduce contamination.

Just throwing an idea out there. You'll have to do the research to see if it'd work.
