Bushing Maintenance?
I am going to be having the PFADT Stage 4 installed on my car very soon and I was wondering how often you guys have to re-grease your poly bushings. I was speaking with the very helpful and friendly guys at PFADT and they were saying that you may have to pull the bushings and grease about once a year. They said you have to pull them because they are not designed to work with zerk fittings. My questions for all you guys running poly bushings is how often do you grease, do they start to get noisy if you don't, and how hard is it to pull the poly bushings in order to grease them? FYI, if I'm not mistaken I should only be worring about the bushings on the sway bars, tie rods, and trailing arms with the stage 4 kit. Thanks for the help!

Can't help with other brands, but with Pedders bushings once they are properly installed you typically do not need to re-lube them. I've had them installed in my GTO for over 6 years and they have never made a noise. This is typically a result of the quality of the urethane. With inexpensive quality urethane there are many additives that are required to provide the same level of strength, but with the high quality urethane that Pedders uses doesn't require nearly as much of the additives to be added and thus they will remain quiet for long periods of time.

Well I'm pretty sure this is a silly question considering you are a Pedders specialist and I probably will not get a non-biast opinion but wouldn't you say PFADT's bushings are just as good of quality as Pedders bushings?

I don't know, i'm not sure on the specifics of their bushings, and if i did i couldn't post it anyhow, lol
I can tell you anything you want to know about our products, but i'm barred from talking openly about a competitors product. |
