The BEST of times in the worst of times
OK Guys/Girls, its only 10 days until GM starts production of our cars and I know we are very excited. At the same time, its also a difficult time to be a car fan with all that is going on with the auto industry right now.
Anyhow, I was thinking last night, and something occurred to me. Not that long ago, about 10 years or so, GM released the ZZ502 crate motor with 502 horsepower. That engine was incredible. Just thinking that you could buy a 500 horepower engine with a warranty was mind blowing. You could always tell the cars that had them at the time because there would be a crowd of people around them drooling. Now fast forward a few years. We are on the verge of getting our new 400/426 horsepower Camaros from the factory. In 10 years time, we have gone from drooling over what we thought was impossible, to getting a new Camaro that is only about 80 horseower shy of that beast. So with as much doom and gloom as we are all hearing everyday, keep the faith, as you can see we have come a long long way with GM performance vehicles. We are honestly in the best of times performance wise, in the worst of times economy wise. |

Agreed.
We are in the golden era of sports and muscle cars......and it's over. The ZR1/ACR/Camaro SS/Pontiac G8/AMG/Jeep SRT will be the pinnacle of performance for their classes. I hope everyone is appreciating this period while we actually live it. |

I guess the beast that is the American Auto Industry is blowing it's final head of steam before the "Green" era gets here. And doing it well.

If they don't then it may be expensive over time to keep the car up but you'll have a rare car indeed.
