Blacking Out Ashen Gray
OK well I am in the process of blacking out my 2012 2SS Ashen Gray. So far I have de-chromed everything except for the brake light bezels. Those will be getting professionally sprayed with automotive flat black paint with flat clear coat at the end of the month but I figured I would start this thread so people can get a peek at what it is going to look like. Future blacked out items will be black Heritage Grill, black Sparks Trunk and Grill SS emblems, blacked out head lights, turn signals, side markers, tail lights, and matte black Forgestar F14 rims. Everything will be completed by first week of April. I received the Sparks SS grill and trunk emblems today and I installed the trunk emblem today. I would like to note that the Sparks Billet Aluminum SS emblems are amazing quality. So much better than the plastic badges from Chevy. The only thing I would say to do as a tip is to take a black paint pen or even a Sharpy marker and black out the edge of the double sided tape that is on the back of the Trunk emblem before you install it because the tape color kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. I am pretty sure that I will not be putting the CAMARO emblems back on the sides of the car even in black. I just like the clean look it has without them. So here is my first set of pictures and I will be adding more next week once I get the Heritage Grill and smoked light kit on monday. (third pic is of the grill emblem which is the same exact size, shape, and color as the trunk emblem with just the added grill bracket on the back instead of adhesive tape)

MODS... I put this in the wrong section. Can you move it to cosmetic and lighting modifications? Thanks.

I know its unlikely for you to listen to a word I say after our previous/current exchange, but a lot of people have had good luck with plasti-dip for your light bezels, its very durable,a lot cheaper, and looks pretty good on the cars I've seen.

I recommend SEM trim black, its satinish but not glossy.
it matches the wiper arm black, mine came out perfect. |

I am not Blacking out my stock rims but I did order a set of Forgestar F14 in Matte Black that will be installed along with all the other parts you can see in my sig at the end of this month. I will post pics with rims beginning of April. Tomorrow I get my grill and smoked light covers. Hoping to have pics of that by tomorrow night. Thanks for your pics though. Looks really good! What color is your grill? Did you just leave it the unpainted black color it comes in?

Looks good! I did the same to mine. Blacked out anything chrome or not AGM, except the wheels (obviously).

Ok, so here are the pics to the last cosmetic updates I will personally be doing, the rest will be done at Raymond's Performance starting Friday. Today I got the Heritage Grill installed, Front Sparks Black SS, and Upgraded P13 Plasma Fog Lights (cool white) with DRL jumpers and everything only took me 1 hour and 30 mins and thats including taking the wheels off and on. (much easier with the wheels off) Unfortunately I found out yesterday that I should not install my Smoked Lens kit until it is at least 65+ degrees outside and since I live in Chicago and as you can see there is still f'in snow on the ground in Spring that install will have to wait a few more weeks. So I am hoping once I get my car back from Raymond's it won't be to much longer until I can install the lens and the cosmetic blacking out will be done...for now. (maybe some vinyl wrapping in the future)
P.S. the car is not sitting on the wheels, they are just there for added safety in case the stands fail

Thanks. What does Open House entail? I will be dropping it off March 29th and picking it up as soon as all the work in my sig is done. However long it takes them. Unfortunately, (as far as the open house goes) it is planned to be done way before April 14th. I do however wish I could go to something like that cause lately (prob due to the summer coming up and my car getting where I want it) I have been thinking it would be nice to start hanging out with some other Camaro guys and gals. You live close to there? Have you had any work done by them?
