Stock tire pressure @ the track

I drive a 1SS M6, and was just going to run a normal 36lbs on the stock 20s. A buddy of mine, who use to run down the track told me that if I run stock pressure, I will not see very good times. I have never ran down the track myself ever in any car and basically and flabbergasted by this recommendation...but consider his information credible. He wasn't sure what it should be, never running 20s, and so I am here to be learned.

I always run stock tire pressures, 35-36 lbs. in all tires, and have had pretty good results. My best 60' is 1.87. Street tires perform best when used within certain parameters like temp and pressure. If the Tire pressure is too low, the tire will start cupping in the center and lose traction. Giant burnouts are also taboo in my book on street tires. I do a small burnout just to clean off the tires.
Just keep the tires where they are for now and practice your launches. Once you have that wired, then start making changes to see if you can make improvements. I would not recommend making changes to your car before you learn how to race. Enjoy and have fun.

I always heard to lower them to 25psi in the rear.

The first time I raced I had 35 psi all around. I wheel hopped bad and got like 2.20 60'.

Second time I added Trailing Arms, lowered psi, and rode the clutch out a little better. Wheel hop was gone, 60' was in the 2.1 range.

Third time out I added about 35 rwhp with headers and tune. Car picked up about .5 in the 8th, no wheel hop, rode the clutch out....got 2.02 or something like that.

Hope to do better my next time out. I plan to lower the rear to 25 psi and raise the front to 44 psi.

The question becomes, is the less rolling resistance you have with stock tire pressure more of an advantage vs. lower tire pressure and better grip. Just make as many runs as you can and find where YOUR sweet spot it.
