what do you get?
I was thinking the other day that my 2010 2LT is supposed to get around 29mpg highway. I don't seem to get that. I get more around 22-23mpg. Does anyone on here get close to what they are "supposed" to get in mpg? Is there something else I can do to improve this?

The only way to get the MPGs you're "supposed" to get on these cars is to drive 55 in 6th gear constantly - never stop. At least with the V8 M6.

Well, the mpg is usually skewed.
The guys who do them will typically run on a closed super-elevated track, and will put huge rims with small tires and pump up the PSI to way beyond spec for max MPG. I have an SS with just about every possible mod and when cruising on the highway I get around 20-21 mpg

Right, but I believe your LS is geared differently than the LT, specifically to get higher MPGs. It also probably has smaller tires (less drag/resistance) and all-around less weight manual tranny vs automatic, for instance).

Only time I see 26+ is when I reset the counter and drive exclusively on the highway. Any stop and go or city driving skews the numbers to 23-24.

Something must be wrong with my 1le I'm getting 14-15 city driving and the only freeway trip I got 20. It probably has to do with the nut behind the wheel though.

Who cares I don't buy cars for gas mileage.

Timna, that sounds about right. I only get 20-21 if I am cruising on the highway at around 65, 6th gear, cruise control on. Otherwise I am getting around 14-17 highway.

The only way you are going to get close to 29 mpg in a 2LT is to set the cruise at 55 or 60 in 6th gear on a level stretch of road and never use the brakes. In real world highway driving you would be lucky to see 25. Around here highway speed is 75 - 85 and low 20s is the best mpg I get at that speed.

To adequately answer this question you have to take variables into account:
* transmission type * fuel grade * driving long stretches versus city traffic w frequent stop and sit In my case, city driving in my LT is pretty brutal on gas mileage. Mine's an automatic so my average is showing 17.5 MPG. Again, because I sit in traffic it's going to be a lot lower, and I also use the minimum Octane rating. Gas with higher octane ratings mean the engine has to work less and probably would increase mileage by 1-2, but the cost offset is too much for me. Also, manual transmissions will get better MPG that autos but not much.

I have gotten 27-28 strictly highway , averaging close to 70mph , I am sure if I drove 50-55 I could get close to 30,
