The 2016 1LE will exist in form and option
Sounds like the 2016 Camaro SS will be something sweet.
Below are just my opinions based on my observations... What do we know two weeks out. The magnetic ride will be an option on the SS. The stainless headers will be on the V8. The suspension package will be 28% stiffer on the SS. And a couple others. My opinion is mearly a prediction. But the above points of knowledge and statements imply heavily on the components of a 1LE package. And the integration of those components with no supercharger or turbocharger teasers suggest to me that there will be no ZL1 option model. The ZL1 was a beast, but I feel that it will be dropped in favor of the 1LE primarily of the proven track performance coupled with a highly dedicated fanbase that appreciates their own boltons in package that supports an active secondary market instead of a turnkey solution that doesnt carry the same fan comradiery. My opinions only... weeks out. |

There has not been a 1LE in first year runs, which is smart, as there will be real world bugs to work out. They will shoot themselves in the foot if they do it and it does not work out....just my .02

I kinda felt the same, but what is changing my mind is the Caddy base is a proven performance design that will not lead to alot of bugs being worked out. And the above components in the teasers suggest a package out of the gate.

That image doesn't mean anything one way or another... But since you posted it, the black hood may have to go bye bye if they do have one, the gen6 hood does not follow the line of the car and black just accentuates that even more.

So as we wait for the new specs on the 2016, as we know the new option of magnetic ride control, the power of the LT1 460HP, and lighter stronger suspension, and the elusive redesign. WHo would shake their 1LE's for the 2016...???
I personally would wait until I actually see one and see what the pricing would be?? |

If they are trying to do a throw back to the Gen 2 Camaros, this ain't it...
I would not sell my 1LE anytime soon, even if the 16 turns out to have these improvements. If they do a track model, they should include the dry sump LT1.

My opinions,
2016 Initial release, v8 ss model with new lt1 motor, v6 and maybe a v4 twin turbo. 2017 convertible intro and zl1 model with new lt4 with 650 hp since the vette z06 just got a hp updat to 670-680. 2018. 1le model debutes this time better heads and cam are an option to pickup 40hp over the stock lt1 in the ss. 2019 ? |

Many times, manufacturers only bring back certain models/options in order to validate the copyright, i.e. they would lose copyright protection if they don't use it. This is why you sometimes only see a moniker come back every decade or two.
I'm not sure 1LE is a copyrighted designation, but I speculate it will be treated the same -- no 1LE again until years down the road when they bring it back for various business reasons. |
