Exclamation GM Card Points Question

Hello everyone,

A family friend has the old GM Card with more than enough points to use towards a vehicle. Years ago we were able to purchase some vehicles using his points but his name had to be attached to the bill of sale in addition.

I went to a dealer the other day to price out a 2015 2LT RS Bright Yellow Camaro with Black Rally Stripes and I was informed by the salesman of 32 years that the only way to use those GM card points, is the person has to live in the same household as me, which is clearly not the case. He also said the old method I listed above cannot be done.

On here I see people selling other people points all the time. How does this work? Is this salesman wrong or misinformed? I was really counting on the $1500 in points plus other incentives offered to make the vehicle more affordable.

Thank you!

Your name needs to be added to the card/account

Well I don't want to be able to look at his expenses and such and how would I explain this to the salesman then if he already knows its not my card.

Have you or the card holder called the GM card hotline? This would easily answer the question on what is required to get the pts

How would I go about this then? I see you deal with this all the time. The card holder is also worried about credit score and I'm already confused on this whole thing.

This has NO effect on any credit score and the cardholder's name does NOT have to be on your title or loan or any of you paperwork. It is easy and simple to do.
