First, welcome aboard! This has been debated many times here, some will say follow manufacturers direction & others will say drive it like you stole it, it is your choice. I choose to follow manufacturer.

You stole my nickname. Not cool.

J/k

Welcome to the board. And as the previous poster said there are two camps at the moment. It all comes down to how you want to drive it.

I followed the break in as close as I could. Went over 80 more times than I went above 4 grand.

It's not just the engine you are breaking in it is the entire drivetrain. I did the break-in and don't regret it. If you don't follow the break-in I believe they could not honor the warranty if they think it caused it. That may vary from dealer to dealer but why take a chance? You may want to read some of the other threads on the subject. FBODFATHER, who is on the performance team has stated it is necessary.

One thing I always think about it, if you bought an airplane and it had a break-in proceedure would you follow it?

Is that directly from a dealer who refused to honor a warranty? Or is this YOUR opinion? I have not read any posts the whole time I have been on this forum stating their warranty was denied due to going over 80MPH or 4K rpm. There is even a post of an owner with a modded ZL1 that was given warranty work that required a teardown!

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't airplanes require more maintenance and inspection on a regular basis? Especially the single prop versions?

90 miles to go. Not that it matters at this point.

I have not heard of any but they can look at your vehicles data and see if you violated the proceedure. I am not saying they would not honor the warranty but I think they would be legally in the right if they did. I think it would also be hard to prove that violating the break-in caused a problem but I wouldn't take the chance. In the end it is everyones choice but I hope they make an educated choice. I don't believe the Dealer would accept "some guy on Camaro5 said it was ok.

Yes, I was just trying to make the point that there are consequences to actions sometimes and an airplane with a blown up engine are hard to land.
