Another Allocation Question

Here's the scoop.

I ordered on October 13th, 1st spot in line (63 allocations), at MSRP. Now, I have another local dealer who will honor GSU if I come in and sign today. He says I would be the #2 SS in line (32 allocations). He really wants to screw the other dealer out of the sale. Here's the issues:

1) I will lose my $500 deposit (no big deal if I'm going to save $1500 off MSRP).
2) I will have an order date that is over four months later than the original.

Question is, are we sure that the actual order date will have no bearing on production. I'd kill myself if I jumped ship and they decided to do what they could to fill orders by order date as well as allocation. Number two vs number one spot may cost me a month- that I can live with for $1000. But if GM, in any way, includes actual order date in their computations, I fear it could cost me a lot more in time...

Scotty? Fbodfather? Anybody?

If you'd be #2 at the other, you'd be in good shape.

BUT.....take that "estimated guide number" or what has been rephrased on this forum as an allocation number with a grain of salt. Since some may have become "forum savvy", they really can tell you anything, like "We're getting 100 cars!"....you have no way of knowing that number for sure anymore. It is no longer documented, it is now obtained by the regional manager.

Sorry, you have another dice roll on your hands......

AN old deal is a cold deal.............No one should lose a deposit on a car that is a month behind the original anounced SORP.

Would it be safe to say that numbers have not changed (or changed very little) from when it was actually documented?

I have no history with the dealer I'm currently at so I can't say ya or nay. The dealer I'm looking to go to I do have history with. I bought our company HD 2500 Silverado from them 4 years ago and my father in law bought his last two Impalas from- one last month. I haven't had any issues with their service department; appointments pretty quick -3,4 days when necessary, vehicle washed, etc... Honestly, if I need to consider a service department in my decision, I probably bought the wrong car...

Normally I would agree with you however I did SIGN on the dotted line "non-refundable"... Even dealer #2 said they can keep it if they want because of that. Will they? Who knows. I would think I'd have a much better chance now while the car is still in the 1100 state since consensus doesn't occur until next Friday. Assuming they do what they said and keep me in line at #1, once they have availability to order my vehicle, and have done so, I really couldn't blame them for keeping it if I backed out at that point.

Hey ..they get a car for the floor ....do they think they will have it sitting there growing interest? You did them a favour. It's not like it's purple with white poka dot's.
May have been "standard " to charge a DP last year...that was then ...2009 is now!

Ah- now you're talking- LEVERAGE. If you don't give me my money back, I'll MAKE SURE Chevy knows my order is cancelled. If you give it back, I guess I just never picked up my car...

Can't you use the 2nd dealer's offer to try to get the 1st one to offer the discount also?
