Windows Mobile 6.5 Rocks with Blutooth
WOW, much better since I upgraded my phone from Windows Mobile 6.1 to 6.5.
Highly recommend the upgrade if you can find a version for your phone! |

What phone are you using? I've got the xv6800 (verizon version).
If the same, where'd you dump the upgrade from? Okay, either way, where'd you dump the upgrade from? :-) |

For everyone asking, WM updates are usually posted on the phone manufacturer (most common) or cellular carrier's (not so common) website.
They will vary between phone makes, models, and also service providers even if it is the same phone, so be sure to get the correct one. I recommend trying the phone manufacturers website first, they will be most likely to have the update if there is one. And just because you have Windows Mobile does not mean that there is an update available for your phone, since they are built for the specific device. There are ways around this stuff, but it's basically hacking the device and you risk permanently damaging it, so I will not get into that here. If you're that crazy to do it, Google for some good WM forums & a lot of reading on those will be your friend. Last edited by Matt'sSS; 07-16-2009 at 07:18 PM. |

For example...
1) Find phone Manufacturer & model- HTC is the manufacturer of the vx6800 (a quick Google of "vx6800" can tell you that, first link) 2) Find Manufacturer website- HTC's website is http://www.htc.com/us (again, Google "HTC", first link) 3) Go to the Support section- Click on "Support" 4) Select your device- "Choose Your Product:" And you will be taken to the support page for your specific phone. IF there is a ROM update it will be somewhere in this area usually. Keep in mind that even if there is a ROM update it may not be with a newer version of WM OS though. Manufacturers will frequently do ROM updates for bug fixes. 5) Find the ROM update (if there is one)- HTC's website dropped us right in front of the ROM update, which is nice... http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...cat=2&dl_id=99 However, they do not describe much, only saying "Corrects time synchronization issue when moving back into a coverage area when previously out of coverage" which probably means it does not include a WM OS update & is just a bug fix. This is the same generic steps for pretty much any major phone manufacturer. You should be able to Google & surf your way there. The ROM updates are sometimes difficult to follow, requiring many steps, sometimes requiring specific computer software (provided on the site) or Microsoft software (like ActiveSync or the built in communications center in Vista), and a data cable. IF THE UPDATE GETS MESSED UP YOU CAN PERMANENTLY DAMAGE YOUR PHONE There is no safe mode, no formatting from a command prompt, if for some reason the update fails (most common is the computer doing the update has a problem unrelated {power outage, freezes, whatever}, or the cable gets disconnected) it can toast your phone. So be sure you're comfortable doing it. |

Thats good cause WM 5.0 on my Motorola Q sucks. 85% of the time it works great, 15% it locks into private call and wont work over bluetooth. I have to shut down the car and the phone and restart both for it to MAYBE work.

If you are running a Moto Q9h, check this site for an update to Windows 6.1 - Moto Q9h Support. I can personally tell you that 6.1 is WAY better than any previous versions. However, I cannot seem to find anywhere to upgrade to 6.5 for that device.

If it does this just wait for a second and press the transfer call button on the steering wheel. Then after it says something press the end call button and it clears it out.

You might also want to try PPCgeeks.com or xda-developers.com. They'll likely have a "cooked" ROM (custom ROM usually with the latest and greatest updates and toys) for your device.
In upgrading your version of Windows Mobile you're ALREADY flashing a ROM. If you're going to flash one, might as well flash an awesome one. For instance, I use EnergyROM on my Touch Pro. Things to be careful of regardless of if you're flashing a ROM from the manufacturer or a custom one: 1. Don't unplug the device or let it become unplugged during the flashing process. 2. Make sure you're flashing the RIGHT ROM. There are plenty of people that flash GSM ROMs onto CDMA phones and vice versa or that flash ROMs for devices with similar names. If you're on Sprint or Verizon, you need a CDMA ROM, if you're on AT&T or T-Mobile you need a GSM ROM. MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PHONE MODEL RIGHT. 3. Read and search around. The first time you flash it seems really overwhelming if it's a custom ROM, especially if your device requires unlocking, but it's really not bad at all. 4. Flashing a custom ROM will void your warranty. If you have any problems, you can flash back to the manufacturer's ROM and they'll never know the difference. IE, if your keyboard stops working, that has nothing to do with the ROM, so flash it back to the manufacturer's ROM before sending it in. If you fry your phone flashing the ROM, there's a decent chance your carrier won't know the difference, but it will still void your warranty. 5. YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON THE PHONE WHEN FLASHING! Backup anything you want to keep, or put it on a storage card. Overall though, I really recommend flashing, and the ONLY time I've ever seen people mess up the phone is if the device gets unplugged or if they flash the wrong ROM. And, 6.5 is okay, but it's still got a lot of the typical Windows Mobile quirks.
