braided stainless steel brake lines

has anyone done the conversion to braided stainless lines on their zl1, I would love to get 1st hand thoughts and opinions on doing the conversion, how easy it is to do and responsiveness. also what about brake fluid, which one is everyone running for road coursing?

Yes I did the install my self I took a couple hours. I'm not a fan of the SRF brake fluid Motul or willwood is much better brake fluid. I have only had my Z28 for a little while. But I've had many road race cars and motorcycles over the years. It's a dramatic different feeling brake pedal

As do I.

@ReaperZL1, thanks for the bump on this subject!

Also, will 2nd that Motul makes great fluid. I've ran DOT 5.1 and RBF600 in the past.

I can't vouch for SRF. All I know is that it's REALLY expensive, and I've heard a handful of guys claim that it supposedly "will not" boil. I feel like Wilwood or Motul is probably better bang for the buck. carparts also probably has more experience with this than I do.

I went from factory fluid, to Castrol SRF, and then to Motul. I like the Motul as the Castrol works well but is not cost effective. The steel lines helped brake pedal feel.

I dont have a ZL1, but did the same upgrade. Made the pedal firmer, along with more confident. Easy and cheap upgrade.

thank you everyone for all the info. yeah the SRF is not really cost effective. I'm going to go motul this go around and test it out. I have new pads and slotted/drilled rotors coming in from R1 Concepts as well.

I installed the Goodridge SS lines and Castrol DOT 4 synthetic fluid at the same time. Definitely has a firmer pedal, but it could be from the brake bleeding.

If the rotors are getting hot enough that you're needing Motul fluid, they will crack at the cross drilled holes fairly quickly.
