Roto fab fitment

Has anyone ever had issues getting a Roto Fabb to line up in their ZL1? I'm installing my Roto Fab right now and there is absolutely no way this elbow will be able to mate with the throttle body fitting. I have tried bending and forcing and it's just not happening. I followed the instructions closely step by step and I lined everything up like they say. I feel like either I have something on wrong or this thing isn't made properly.

Might want to push the two plastic pieces together more into the coupler

Did you buy new? That heat shield does not look right for a zl1. Looks like an SS heat shield

You are 100% correct. I just got off the phone with them. They sent the wrong heat shield. Theyre sending the correct one but it won't get to me until Tuesday at the earliest.

Oh I pushed! Lol. Turns out...I have the wrong heat shield. They sent me the SS shield and not the ZL1. Is this all because I haven't updated my avatar or signature pic?!?! Lol

I have this on my 2013 ZL1 and yesterday I wanted to remove the filter and put a new one on, but there does not seem to be any clearance and I didn’t want to force anything. I didn’t put it on myself. Had a shop do it. Help

You have to remove the shield to remove the filter. It even states to hold onto the instructions for that reason. It's not super hard. I'm sure you can download the instructions from somewhere. If you want I can PM the pages to you. All you'll need is a 10mm, 8mm, 7mm, and a phillips screwdriver (I think that's all).

Honestly, you might be able to get away with removing the one 10mm nut from the shield and just popping the bottom out of the grommet. Basically just jerk up on the heat shield once the nut is off and it should pop up. You MIGHT be able to get enough play that way but IDK.

I find it easier to remove the wheel and wheelhouse liner, to then remove the air filter through the bottom. I have the washer bottle relocation with Big Gulp, but even if you don't, I think you will find this is a lot easier than wrestling with disassembly and then reassembly of the heat shield and air tube. Another option which I decided against, is to relocate the earth cable and jumper lead post.

The only hard part I found was making sure the bottom was fully seated on the frame and pushed all the way down and not still on top of that wire or hose whatever it was running there too.

I've cleaned the filters and even replaced the old one with a new one after oiling and have never had to remove the heat shield to remove the filter/s! For me it's only necessary to loosen the screw clamp push the windshield washer to the side with hand pressure and it's off.

I agree. Mine comes off from the top pretty easily. Just loosen the clamp and pull it out, basically.
