Lightbulb Camaro5fest II - Drag Racing - rules/classifications?

From this thread: Camaro5 Fest II Information and Schedule

Saturday (April 16th, 2011)

4:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Bracket racing / Exhibitions / Grudge Races (American Racing Headers)

What are the rules/regulations for the drag racing event? Is it all bracket racing? Or will it be divided into classes? Like stock... bolt ons... heads/cam+, forced induction, etc... ?

Also, how is qualifying going to be ran? Didn't see this info listed anywhere...

Thanks!!

we're probably gonna have a quick 16

and two other bracket classes...

Still working out the details.

ARH will be awarding prize money to the top two in each class.

This is an area that definitely needs improvement from the first fest! Nobody had a clue what was going on or how the classes were going to be set up. One thing that has to be considered when trying run classes such as (stock , bolt-on ect.) is having the staff check over the cars or trusting what the owner says is done to his or her car. In my eyes this is the way it should be , having heads up races for the individual Fast list classes. The easiest least amount of involvement would be to just do E.T. brackets where you choose your index (11, 11.5, 12, 12.5) and run a quick 16.

However you guys decide to do it. Try to get the info out ahead of time and have fun!

it's not quite that simple...

the reason we have qualifying is so we can detrmine what everyone will run... we'll toss out the quick 16 since they will have their own class.

We'll then look at all the times and figure out what the best breakout times are. then set the brackets up so the most amount of people will be able to compete in a fair class.

May not be perfect but this is more about exposing people to the sport than it is about full on drag racing.

I agree completely with you about the exposure of Drag racing to those that havent been around it. At the first fest thats why they had basically a test and tune the majority of the day for those that wanted to try something new. However I think there is also interest in the (Full on Drag racing) from a racers and spectators stand point. A perfect way to finish the evening at the fest.

we've never seen him drive, 15 sec could be a goal as he's in the 18 sec class now.

I'm hoping someone will let me ride along once, as I will be flying in and will not have my car.
