Everything electrical under the hood is waterproof. Some of these posters would probably flip if they knew how much water gets in there when you're driving in a hard rain. As previously stated, no exposed air filter, or you'll have driveability problems. Take your hood and strut off and GO!

Not so on the street.

I'm not sure on the road courses but I've seen NASCARs on the ovals allowed to run without a hood. Kind of stupid if you ask me. For the reasons you have mentioned.
Really on a drag strip? I've watched many cars and even ran some myself without hoods down the strip. Rail dragsters don't have hoods either.

Rain is illegal? Not here. We'll take all we can get.

400 miles each way is around 160 in gas......how much would it cost to get it shipped and save 800 miles of wear and tear.

Driving without a hood is not advised due to pregnancy worries and the Ebola (filiovirus) outbreak.

There's no law that you have to have a hood. You don't have to have a windshield either (at least in Texas). The only things you have to have are those items on the checklist of your state's safety inspection. That said, I would not drive any substantial distance without it.

Do you know anyone with a truck? That would seem more logical and easier.

Though it didn't rain hard, it *did* rain yesterday.

Finally, some one used some common sense!

But, really, you can't wait for it to be shipped?

You'll be fine. I drove 450 miles (one way) without a hood on my 04 GTO, to pick up an 05-06 hood for a screamin deal that was local pick up only. I even left the coil covers on, and just put a bungee cord over the top of them from side to side. Even started to rain while driving for a while. I'd do it in a heart beat for a deal on the right hood.

I would probably reinstall the stock air box though. Don't want that lid flying off on the freeway.

160 in fuel is not that much, cannot put a price on the fun factor AND no waiting on shipping, these cars are made to be driven (whats 800 miles on these cars).
