Hey PQ.. how many of those cool Groovy RED shocks you get installed?
By the end of your Camaro build, you just might be a Master Installer of all things Camaro.. |

Got the rears done last night. Just ran out of time. Got tired.
Taking the morning off to do the fronts. |

I'm kinda stuck.
They want me to compress the spring by 3mm on the lower spring seat, but I don't know from where? I can loosen the top and take that 3mm off. The top is not all the way tight yet anyway. When I tighten the top, it will compress the spring a lot further anyway. So I guess I just make them the same on each side and try it? The rears were already at a certain ride height. The fronts apperently are not. |

You want to put the front strut together. Set the top where it needs to go - tighten it up, and back off the bottom so the spring is loose.
After the top is assembled and tight, snug up the bottom spring location by hand. Measure the spring from top perch to bottom. Use the spanner wrenches supplied with the kit to snug up the rings at the bottom to compress the spring and provide the recommended preload on the spring. The lower locking ring is to adjust ride height. I used a picture of a supercar, but the XA's are adjusted the same way. This picture may help. |

I just got off the phone with Randy. He's concerned because there is very little room between the ride height lock nut and the spring seat lock nut when the spring is snug without any preload...
I'm not sure if XA's shock body is shorter than the supercars? he did say both XA fronts are set to exactly the same ride height out of the box.... he's gonna install them the way they are and see if its too low.

Hey I didn't tell him how to fix it.... In fact I told him the tire and the fender are supposed to touch .... it helps prevent body roll...

He still hasn't set the ride height either, which may give more clearance between the rings. |

Poor Randy...can anything ever be easy for you?
I feel like we should change your thread title to Days of PQ...so much drama! Good luck getting everything together. |
