The airbag is located at the very top of the A pillar. If you were to do a single gauge pod, it should be at the very bottom of the A pillar and it will be fine. It is a very small airbag that is all the way up. You can just pull the plastic factory A pillar down and look at it if you want. It will pop right back into place.

I saw a nice guage in a pic from SEMA mounted and moulded into the hood like the oldies olds.
Looked pretty cool. Might be a bit pricey with the body work/paint etc. But I'd go it if I could find a vendor. |

Those gauge pods function just as the stock ones do because the use the same mounting swing out hardware. If the gages are installed properly its just as good as the stock panel. You also still have the center air bag that deploys first.
