Parking it for a year
I've been leasing my car for a little over a year and a half now and I have just hit 41,000 miles. My lease allows for only 15k miles a year. Now I must park my baby for 16 months. What do I need to do before parking my car. Do I need to do anything to the gas in the tank or to the oil or battery? All help is appreciated

You didn't think this over before you leased did you?
Like mentioned by Comrando you have several options. -Park it -Pay the mileage fee -Buy it and the fees don't matter -Sell it private party or Carmax and the fees don't matter

Do you plan on buying the car out of the lease? If so then the miles don't matter. Drive the car and enjoy it

If it's a lease and your going to turn it in, why bother doing anything, Just park it.

Is it a closed-end lease? Just buy it when the lease is up if you know what the residual is going to be, and then turn around and immediately sell it, or trade it in, if you have no plans to keep it.

Parking it and paying for the lease all that time is probably more expensive than simply paying for the miles.

Unsure about buying it after the lease. Parents have started going through a divorce so all the money we have is going towards that. I would just return it but ending the lease early will affect my dads credit score, and its not so great to begin with

To leave a car parked and continue to pay the lease, insure it, etc seems like an absolute waste of money. |

If you do park it for a year do the following:
Over inflate the tires by 5 pounds or lift up on blocks. Fill gas tank completely and pour in a gas stabilizer. Hook up a battery tender with auto float charging capability. Do not periodically start the car unless you plan on driving it at least long enough to completely warm up. Make sure it has a fresh oil change and is freshly polished and waxed. Use a cover to keep dust away. You could avoid all this just by buying out the lease or converting the lease to a purchase. |

41 miles in a year and a half!?!?! That equates to like 525 miles a week. Damn dude haha. At this point I suggest you just buy the car, cause that lease is gonna kill you.

OP, as someone stated, tires - 5 lbs over, full take with Stabilizer, and then a good battery tender, and cover it. If you want to drive it every so often, then do so, just make sure it gets warmed up good, meaning 1/2 hour or so of driving before re-parking it.
