2SS Camaro vs 1lt Corvette C6

This is kinda crazy but I can get a 2009 1lt Corvette with Z51 for $39,500 or a 2SS for about 36k. I am pretty split. I have a long history with the Camaro and love the connectivity, styling and history of the Camaro but the Vette is calling pretty loudly.

What do you want out of the car? Performance or practicality? The 2 aren't really in the same league. Corvette = faster, better handling, sportier. Camaro = back seat, bigger 'wow factor' (for now at least...). Do you want a sports car or a muscle car? I'm in just about the same position, but I need a backseat, got a baby on the way.

I know what your saying, there is one like that here, 38000 for a 07 vette with 3000 on it. Little faster car that handles better and no waiting on it. But at the end of the day its just an ordinary Vette, Right now the Camaro is the "it" Car.

ordinary vette

To the OP. It really depends on what you need out of it. You can go with a car that compromises on some things and makes it better all around. Or go all out performance and have a more impractical car.

I was in somewhat of a similar position, I ended up keeping my POS 3.8L Camaro for daily driving (paid off) which has excellent MPG and get a bar-non, no compromise performance for playing on the weekends (C5 Z06).

I considered the vette too, but i wanted a slightly more everyday car. Also I wanted a fully loaded camaro and not a base model vette. And basically because I grew up loving first gen camaro's. Only vette for me would be a fully loaded ZO6 and thats what 75 or 80 brand new which is double my camaro. Assuming of course the ZR1 will always be out of my price range even though technically it would be the top line.

If you don't need back seats at all, I say it is a no brainer .. grab the C6 !!

The majority of people here will tell you to get the Camaro. I'm one of them. As others have said, it will be a more practical car. But if you are looking for a sports car, well the Camaro can't compete with the Corvette.

Neither is practical. Both kick ass. Good luck with your decision. But in performance, the vette wins, but in attitude CAMARO all the way!!

That's funny.... And I thought we all appreciated a well balanced high performance car built by Amarican's for American's.

Well....the Camaro is gonna be badass ...the vette...has always been badass...but...its been on the market FOREVER.

The camaro has the explosive styling versus the similair vette styling we've seen for the past 30 years.
And I'm sure its a little less expensive to insure a Camaro vs the Vette.

Of course I am gonna say Camaro though...i ordered one.

But why not the obvious choice and buy....BOTH!!!

seeing how obama killed performance cars by 2016...not much time to get one of these beasts.

The wife and I had been contemplating getting a new vette for years and had planned on getting one this year. Even when we saw the first Camaro in 2006 at a car show we weren't sure we would wait for it. Then we started crunching numbers on the price for performance. Practicality of 2 seats vice 4was not in the discussion. Then she said she kind of liked the mustang and wouldn't you know it the only model she really liked was the GT500 top of the line one. I said of course, but if we are going to spend 48K or more then we are going with the vette and she agreed so we had no argument there. Then we decided to just wait for the camaro, she used to have an 81 firebird that she owned and loved for 13 years until her son wrecked it and since the 69 is pretty much my all time favorite camaro we ended up just having to order the new one and are impatiently waiting for it now. I am with some of the other posters in that I did not want a base vette but probably a z06 and of course they are much pricier than the camaro. Even though I have an older vette and love them all, gotta have the camaro. My eyes are drawn to every vette I see on the road pretty much every time I see one regardless of year. Except for some of those ugly 80's ones. Lets just call those the dark years for vette's.

Unless you need or may need the back seat, the Vette. Hate to say it as I was an Fbody guy since 1986 but, I`ve owned 2 vettes now and well they are all around a better performer. Thats why I`m keeping my Vette and getting a 2SS to cart the wife and 2 little ones around in when not rollin in the SUV...

I'm torn by this myself. You would never ever go wrong with getting a Vette, but the Camaro is the "it" thing right now. I myself am leaning towards a vette right now however, especially if I stumble across a great deal on a 06-07 Z06.

FWIW plenty of people use Vettes as daily drivers.
