They won't be done by then. There's a holiday in there and since they are not authorizing any OT from what I've been told, I seriously doubt they hit that deadline. It wasn't stated as a guaranteed statement, they are hoping they are done.

What I want to know if is they do have to go into bankruptcy, are these cars gonna get out before that or have to sit there for another 60 days.

Sorry for the negativity guys, but when they show me something to be positive about, I'll be positive again.

I don't understand the "we have to allocate cars to all dealers" bull. They wanted preorders to gauge consumer preference. It seems to me that the dealers who participated got the shaft because they got a lot of preorders by offering reasonable prices (MSRP) The price gougers will still get their cars and upset a lot of people by jacking up the price.
It seems to me they could have simply told all dealers that they get their dealer car but then preorders will be filled first

Recap

  • Battery cable problem caught them by suprise, took 5 days to identify, rectify and get fixes out. Make sure if you have your car to bring to dealer, they don't want to see pix of Camaro on flatbeds
  • Convertible is possible for 2011. If produced, production starting 4th quarter 2010 WILL PROBABLY NOT HAVE PREORDERS AGAIN.
  • Dealer markups - MSRP is just that, dealerships are independ business men. Limits on what GM can do. Negotiate with dealer, pay what you are comfortable with
  • Constant quality improvement going on, later cars are going thru process that gets them thru production faster than first couple thousand
  • Hope to have most of remaining 1,000 preorders cars on hold released in 3 weeks
  • Z28 not as far along in development, has important role, want to make sure all features are right package at the right time
  • V6 Manual trasmissions - GM not happy with performance, will be ready for production in about 2 weeks.

Ya..... Marketing guys are not in Operations. He says the parts will be lined up in the next 2 weeks. And a constraint is not a constraint as long as you are making the SS models.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt - Area 51 will be cleaned out by the end of the month!
