My MTX's came in and my dealer installed for free. I checked to ensure the sound guy knew what he was doing. I like the sound and I am keeping true to having a GM upgrade. I plan on keeping this car as close to factory as possible. The rest of the factory speakers keep up with the MTX just fine. I am not going to enter any stereo contests anyway.....Maybe a few drags! I am happy with the purchase.

I'm happy with the MTX setup as well... it wont blow you away but it rounds out the low end on the BA system really well

I too have been debating this set up. have heard alot of good from guys who want what I want. just a nice, clean, deep bass. Im not trying to win bass competitions and a nice factory box fit is what I am after as well.
however, you can get this much cheaper than the 1050 retail. try ebay.. I know theres a few on there for $700
Im looking for a used one on there. passed up on one for $500 and regret it...

That is a nice custom job. I'm not a fan of it, visually.

Yes, there is a mesh type covering over the whole back. I'll have to post up photos. I am doing a GP on the sub. Will be posted here shortly.

Much better option in my opinion - also you are all set up for upgrading your other speakers or even reamping them easily with a better amp.

A bit more work, though not much.

I had the dealer install the subwoofer when I bought My 1LS, along with the PDIM. After the installation I was not impressed with the sound, seemed like not much more base than before. Then a few days later I pulled the box loose to try and fit the rubber trunk mat under it. No joy, I had to cut the mat to fit around the sub.

Anyway, I found that the front mount bolts were too short, and not engaged in the threads in the inserts. The bolts were 30mm long. I replaced them with 40mm bolts, which tightened the sub against the car frame and vastly improved the sound. Any music with heavy base now makes the car vibrate like I'm in an earthquake. People in the back seat always complain about the vibration. I have the amp on the sub box turned almost all the way up, and usually set the head unit at -4 treble, -3 mid, +4 base. I have 30% high frequency hearing lose, and still find the stereo has too much high freqs that hurt my ears with it set any higher. I almost always listen to mp3s through the PDIM, because the sound quality of the radio stations sucks.

The MTX upgrade does add a lot of bass. The bolts were too short in mine as well and I got two new bolts and all is well!
