Arrow Important: Support Our Troops!

There's a new GI Bill making its way through Congress that will allow our troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan the opportunity to attend college, and we need to make sure it gets passed!

We are asking so much of our troops- the least we can do is allow them to continue their education when they return from war.

Tell your representatives in Congress that you support a new GI Bill, and so should they.

Take a sec.

to sign the petition.

Thanks

Just signed the petition. I hope this goes thru because I plan on getting a mechanical engineering degree when I get out and I still want to be able to afford a new Camaro.

Very Cool!!!

I'm sure this will pass. No one want's to be on the wrong side of this during an election.

By all means still sign the petition. They still nedd to know it's important to the rest of us that this stuff gets to the service members.

Well Done!!!

im going to read thru it later before i sign anything. military has taught me that much.

but they say that
Quote:
National Guardsmen and Reservists, including those who have served multiple combat tours, typically receive only a fraction of their GI Bill benefits. Moreover, 30% of troops who pay the nonrefundable $1,200 contribution do not end up using the GI Bill at all. These veterans have paid the government $230 million, but received nothing in return
there's a lot of people who dont use the present GI bill, its not the bill's fault, its the people who sign up for it then dont put it to use. and as far as guard and reserve, theres a reason they are 1/2 civilians, cus they can get a regular job on the side and pay for thier own tuition. in addition to that, most every base has an education center that can be made available to use to further your education. right now, im using Tuition Assistance thru the military to pay for my undergraduate degree while im still in the service, then when i seperate, ill use the GI bill to pay for my master's program.

start working on your degree now, you can use DANTES and CLEP to pass a lot of subjects without ever taking a course, as for those overseas, you can do online classes as well, it can be a little more difficult at times, but its worth the work.

I am using my GI BIll right now before it runs out but even it doesn't fully pay for the College I am going to. I would like to see the current military get a better benefit then the current one.
