I hate vans.

Finally got a chance to make this thread. It was a terrible thursday night!

Basically, I was backing out of a drivethru to avoid being hit in the front end. The drivethru here is placed in a very dangerous spot; you can either pull forward into busy traffic or you can back up the way you came onto the backstreet where there is usually no one around. It's not really that there is a lot of traffic here, but it's the fact that you can not see the traffic coming because the building is completely blocking your view; essentially, you just guess and hope to god no one is coming! I was going to do a sketch to show yall what I was talking about, but I just bought a new MAC around a week ago and have yet to find any paint app. So, I backed up and looked behind me and saw nothing but keep in mind that I can not see people pulling out of adjacent restaurant parking lot that I'm backing into. Now as I'm backing up I usually turn my head and look out of the back glass, however, the person who hit me was perfectly positioned in my back right blindspot just behind the small window in the back seat. Thus, I did not see the guy pulling out of his parking spot, so we just backed into each other. He obviously did not see me, or he would have stayed in his parking spot like any other normal person would. It was just one of those freak accidents I guess. :( Anyways, here's the damage!

At least it sounds like its his fault. You where in a lane of travel and he was backing out of a spot.

The OP was going in the wrong direction (reverse). sounds like it's his fault.

Yes, the drivethru is technically a one way, but everyone backs out of it to keep getting hit from oncoming traffic. The building completely blocks the view to get onto the square, which is where you go when leaving the drivethru forward. So really, it's either hit the front or back of the vehicle lol.

It was on private property. It's no ones fault legally. Nobody was injured that's the good part. It looks fairly minor so hopefully back on the road super fast. Gives an excuse to pop in some LED markers and backup lights.

Yessir! Going to buy some backup lights and ask the bodyshop to install the backup sensors in the '11s on my '10, too!

Agree, never could figure out why people use drive thru's. Park, get out and walk inside. Saves gas and you get exercise.
