Irony sure tasted like Iron yesterday (Wrecked the T/A)

No April Fools here.

12:30ish yesterday afternoon I wrecked the T/A at around 80mph. Lost traction in poor conditions, car's tail went out from under me. Wound up spinning 1.5 times before impacting a barrier and sliding backwards about 40-60 feet at 60mph before coming to a stop.

Only car involved, and I'm perfectly fine aside from a bruised neck. Rear diff is crunched, 2 rims cracked, tierod pretzel'd, door sandwiched and split, rear quarter smashed along with the core, and the frame is twisted.

Oh, and the drivers side seat snapped in two on impact.

But, I'm alive. Thank you, GM. Thank you St. Therese.

She will rise from the ashes, $4,000+ USD later. Totally out of pocket on this one. :(

Glad you're relatively okay and the car certainly looks like it can be repaired. However, am I going to be the only one to ask why, if the weather conditions were so poor, you would have been doing 80mph on a public road?

Three words: Tree was green.

One end was clear, but it sprinkled JUST enough for me to slip on my side and pass behind the other guy while I slowed to try to regain traction.

I last saw the spedo at 80ish but probably hit around 55-60 on the high side. Ended up being the canary in the coal mine because right after the cleanup, they shut the track down for the day.

Afterwards other drivers told me that they were yelling at the tower to flag off the two pairs ahead of me; but it just wasn't slick enough until my tires met that particular part of the track.

So I wound up sliding backwards along the wall in 4th gear..

Thanks for the clarification and my apologies for assuming it was on a public road.

Depends on what the actual estimate is. We're guessing 4K but it could be higher or lower. Needless to say it's not getting back on the road any time soon because I don't have a credit card, nor do I have 4K. I still have payments on it too.

Not going to claim it on ins because.. well ya can't.

Depending on how the wind blows I may just have to part it out to pay off the loan on it, then take the rest and buy a POS Honda to get around in.

Facts of life: You pay to play. This one time may have cost me dearly. Only has 38,218 too. I can't find another one with nearly as low miles for what I got it for.

Edited: I DID NOT BREAK MY NECK!

I have no idea why I typed that (mind thinking one thing, hands wanting to kill me?). It's just bruised, pulled, and sore as f**k but Tylenol helps.

I was actually all fine and dandy until I started posting all this. Now I'm physically ill and not doing 'too hot'. I love that car too much to let it go, regardless of what it is. It means too much to me but the practical side of my conscience is thinking that bringing her back may be an impossible fools errand.

It also happened 11 years to the month of her construction. She was built April 2000.
