Something its not?
Why do people try to turn their cars into something their not; SS to a ZL1, LT to an SS or ZL1? If you drive an SS be proud! The SS lineage runs with deep roots! Mod the SS and spank the hell out of the ZL1 with its 1.9 SC. This isn't a slam on the ZL1, its a fine machine in its own right. Back in the day, guys used to try to make their Grand Nationals look like GNX's as if the GN couldn't hold its own?? I guess the worst offenders are the Mustang GT guys slapping Cobra emblems and stickers all over their cars since its has a loud exhaust.
SS owners BE PROUD that you drive an SS!! Rant off......... |

Meh, I'm proud of my SS and I can't afford a ZL1 but I DO want a ZL1 hood because I really like it and it is a GM product.
I see no harm in wanting to mod your own car how you want to mod it. |

I understand why they do it. The ZL1 bumper looks awesome, and so do the wheels and hood, much better than the regular SS ones. The whole LTs pretending to be SS's is kinda dumb though. The SS bumper isn't really that much different from an LT's to where an upgrade is necessary. Now those who are putting misleading badges on their cars are just straight up posers.

I don't think its anything to get all worked up about...the same could be said about any mod or change that's different than bone stock...I think everybody likes to personalize/mod to some degree or other...just part of the fun, so to speak...no real rules in this regard, just personal preference...nothing will change the vin number...enjoy!

I did just the opposite. I did not like the looks of the red SS so I changed them to white. I get the "that's not an RS" all the time. I don't care. I know and that's what counts. Make it your own and enjoy it. Other peoples opinions don't count.

Please don't be offended if you've made these mods, I'm just curious to the reasons. It's your money so you have a right to do with what you can afford.

I don't see a problem going for ZL1 parts, particularly considering that those parts are functional pieces that improves on the car and not just a cosmetic change.

It's nothing new... People have been doing it forever... Look at all the fake SS Chevelles and older Camaros you see running around.
