pulled over for tint in Plano this morning

Of all things to be pulled over for... He didn't give me a ticket for not having a front license plate. That is what I was expecting when he pulled me over because I wasn't speeding. He did mention it was law to have one on the front, but didn't give me a written warning.

I put 25% tint on my door windows and because the window itself is tinted, his little meter read 22% so he gave me a written warning. What a way to start the morning!

Except for not having a front plate, I wasn't breaking any laws. He didn't pull me over for the plate, only the tint. I put legal tint on my windows. The window itself must have some tint or his meter is wrong. 25% or greater is legal in Texas.

A lot of windows come with some sort of tint thats why if you put the tint on yourself you dont buy right at the legal amount because it will put you over. Also, if you have the tint done by someone you need to tell them it needs to be legal and for them to test it and prove to you its legal.

Even if he didnt catch you, you probably would have failed your state inspection when it came due.

They must be enforcing that law a little more, I got pulled over last week for the same thing.
My tint showed 27% according to his meter.
Just gave me a verbal warning.

I got pulled over last Monday in Plano as well but for speeding. I was speeding, but a Lexus blew by me and I was the one who got pulled over. He also did not say anything about a front plate.

I guess since our cars stand out they are paying more attention to us. It also does'nt help that my car is orange.

Also, that's not always true... I've been pulled over because the officer thought I didn't have my seatbelt on. He followed me for 2 miles before pulling me over, so I'm not sure how he didn't noticed I had it on the entire time. When he came to my window he stated, "I observed you not wearing a seatbelt, but I don't know when you put it back on." Then proceeded to write me a ticket. All I had to do was show up, and speak with the DA for a moment to get it dismissed. She stated that they were having issues with many of the tickets he had been writing. Just like any workplace, most are great, some are jerks, and you can get pulled over for nothing if you get a jerk.

In this case, I would take it back to the shop and ask them to test it. If you asked for legal, and you got a warning for it being illegal, the shop should fix it. Where did you go? I always take my cars to Tritek.

Did the law change recently? The last time I had my windows tinted (about 3 years ago), I was told 35% was the limit on the front side windows.

It's 25% front sides.

Does sound like something a judge would forget. Just tell judge you told installer darkest legal and it's not your fault.

That's probably why he gave you warning cause in court you probably would of got a dismissal.
