Whether the explanation is correct, incorrect, or written in Sanskrit is not the point, and I think you know that, too. Your reaction is. I don't care if you're Smokey Yunnick reincarnated. So suppose you take the chip off your shoulder and try to get along.

To get back on topic. At the time the dealer said it was empty, I would imagine they replaced the oil filter, then added oil to get it back to normal. At that point the OP would have asked, (if he was questioning what he was told).... "how much oil did you add?". There is the answer to your question, and no need for the post or to question what they told you. Also, you said it was "awhile back". How is it you're curious now as you must know how much oil was added? So lets end all this with a simple question back to the OP. "How much oil was put back in? There's your answer, case closed.

If I was your dealer and there was any engine damage because of lack of oil I'd void your warranty for that. Wasn't their fault
just sayin |

Appreciate all the replies..I think the dealer added 7l of oil. I did think about the pressure increasing when the vehicle was being driven so I kept the rpms down for the 3-5 minutes I had to drive, and the trail of oil wasn't too bad. After I parked it, maybe 1/2 liter more leaked out into an oil pan. There was no warning light and the engine sounded normal, wasn't overheating at all.
I just hope the warranty is still OK, but ifnot thems' the breaks..Anything I might look out for in the future? the engine runs perfect, I've gone with several full throttle starts since and no issues whatsoever. The dealer rep said not to worry. My main question was whether or not some oil would be left in the sump as it is lower than the filter... |
