Project: Darkseid MkII

so..... what has CamaroSpike been planning for his new Camaro?

the aftermarket has exploded with parts for this car. from nose to tail, from intake to exhaust. nearly every part of this car has an aftermarket piece to replace it already.

where does one start?

with the engine, thats where.

I ordered a 2SS/RS A6. and as such, I first started looking at Mast Motorsports (who has built a few motors for friends of mine down here).

they have quite a few packages for both the LS3 and the L99.
while their stage I package looks good, I was more interested in their stage II package.
http://www.mastmotorsports.com/page....ackages&id=115

then their stage III package started looking good.
http://www.mastmotorsports.com/page....ackages&id=116

then I got to thinking about my goals for the car and what all I planned on doing in the future. swapping this intake for another, then this cam for that one, and so on until ive pretty much swapped the entire motor out piece by piece two or three times.

so in a world of full customization and in my never-satisfied need for more and more speed and power and realizing that I would eventually push the car past its breaking point more than once.... I decided that I should just build the damn thing from the ground up. instead of buying a car that was made partially the way I wanted. it would be completely the way I want it.

so I pulled my initial pre-order for an IBM 2SS/RS A6 with a few options. and have now set out to go with a BIW.

thats right. a Body In White. I'll worry about the vin and whatnot later down the road. there's always loopholes to get a car vin'd.

now, that being said what good would it be if I didnt do something stupid powerful with the car?

obviously an LSX block is in order, but what setup? sure I could get a turn key 454LSX for a decent price, drop it into the car and go, but what fun is that. no, I want this to be MY car. and I want it to make some serious OMGWTFBBQ power on nuts alone.

so I've decided to go with a 436ci LSX. (actually, its closer to 435.9829, but who's counting?).

The Heart of Darkseid:

standard 9.26" LSX deck
4.165" bore
LSX 4.00" stroke crankshaft
custom cam grind (wont post the specs till later....sorry) tho I will go with a 60mm base circle over a 55mm.
6.00" H-beam rods
2.00" bearings
13.5-14.0:1 pistons (again, ill post which specific brand later)
LSX454CT heads that will be CNC'd for a lil extra bit.
Jesel 1.85:1 shaft rockers
FAST LSX-R tunable intake manifold or custom sheetmetal intake (still contemplating)
still debating on the injectors I will use. (tho I'm tempted to run a dual injector setup)
and if you havent guessed already, everything will be forged.
methanol injection via snowperformance (so I can run 93 octane)
theres a few other little things here and there, i'm still debating on a wet sump or a dry sump oil system.

thats all for now. more to come later along with links to stuff.

oh, and I'm shooting for over 700hp n/a.

I hate you...in a good way...sounds good though can't wait to see the results...did you have to fill out that online application first for your BIW?

I've made a few phone calls inquiring about it expressing my interest in it. the first few calls were made shortly after the BIW was announced and were just general questions about it. right now im double checking the finances for everything. (hate to buy a body and not be able to build the motor for it ya know). as far as the online portion, they said I could do that or fax a copy or they could take the info over the phone. and to save a little on shipping, I'm going to have it sent to my parents house then move it to TN when I move this time next year. the motor will be outsourced to my uncle and a couple good friends of his outside of Nashville to build, im still ironing out the details of everything at this point tho.

It honestly seemed the most logical way to go about it. I drive the living piss out of my cars. so why should I buy a cool car that is pretty powerful, then break it before I've paid it off and build it up again? why not start with a cheap body and go from there? lol

I had a feeling that you'd go with a body in white, with an LSX. Have fun Spike
