you planning on starting a thread to follow your buildup Robin?

No thread except GM Performance Parts web site.

There are and will be tons of threads about the Camaro from other shops and Camaro owners.

We are not trying to turn the earth with our mods. We want to highlight the bolt on mods that the average Camaro owner might perform.

You won't see us with the fastest car or the most power. Just very attainable results.

Same with me.

Yes I noticed that too when mine broke it looks like when the metal was melted or whatever it was done at a temperature too high and it got deformed and very delicate, so when it take too much of a beating it'll break.
I believe it happened to me because I had just recently learned to drive stick and then one day after taking a little bit of a beating it broke.

Improper heat-treating is a prime suspect.

It happened to you because there was a defective part in your new transmission.

I noticed this exact same noise today when I had the radio down at 350 miles. I hadn’t noticed it before but this is the first time I had the radio all the way down. I didn’t know how to describe it but this post describes it perfectly. Is this normal?
BTW - 6spd manual SS

I just came from my Chevy dealer today. I spoke with the master mechanic who changed my deffective tranny 2 weeks ago. He said that the Tremec needs a ball bearing at the end of the tail of the output shaft. He said that there’s already a place there to put a bearing at the end but GM did not put one there. Many other transmissions have it but not the Tremec TR6060 in the Camaro. Is there some GM representative or transmission expert that could confirm this speculation about the ball bearing being related to the metalurginc problem with the output shaft?
thank you !

Was this intentional or was it an oversight on GM's behalf. Sounds like not putting the bearing in and them knowing that this may cause a problem could leave them liable if someone has an accident due to the tranny breaking. Did the new tranny they installed on your car (UCF w00t) have the bearing in it? My baby was held in 4D forever and delayed 51 days. Have not heard any noise from my tranny but i would like to know if this bearing was installed after the manual tranny problem reared its ugly face. How can we find out if ours does not have this bearing?

Your mechanic is correct.
Where the main shaft should be supported (in the tail case), their is not a bearing installed, there should be a bearing. The case is factory machined for the bearing and a snap ring.
The Driveshaft Shop has prototyped a stronger main shaft with a tail shaft bearing and snap ring. Check out their blog section.
Hope this helps!
