Front plate attach
Figured I better attach a front plate before I got caught. I used a couple pieces of aluminum flatbar $3 connected to the two bolts underneath the bumper.
I don't like it, but at least there is no holes. |

How does that not flutter shake and wobble at speed? I don't think that flat stock is going to be very supportive given the length from the attatch point all the way to the plate bracket. How long is that? 10-12 inches?
Let us know how it holds up.

Ya It looks like you should bend another piece of flat bar with a hook on it at the top so you'd hook it on top then bolt it to the bottom.Use sticky back thin foam to line the hook and protect your paint. I think it'll vibrate with out it.

I am taking my chances, even though in Idaho a front plate is required. I feel like rebel, at least until I get my first ticket.

hey i have it mounted in the same place, but i just flipped the mount upside down, drilled a few holes and zip tied it to the front bumper. Looks the exact same, cant see the zip ties and everyone thinks its bolted. It looks great and hasnt budged since i installed it in June.
Great job on the mount |

It is 9.5 inchs between the holes I drilled in flatbar.
The plate holder sits just under .5 inch from fascia. Put two thin strips of rubber at 2 attach points under fascia. Put a 2x3 x5/8 piece highdensity foam... centre of flatbar on back of plate holder, with 3 contact points it stiffened the holder up considerably. When the weather gets better I will open her up on the highway and test it out. |

Looks similar to TRM0002's bracket. The only thing I would caution anyone using an alternative mounting option like this is to use some stick-on foam to protect the paint. But, I learned on my truck that you're better to stick the foam to the CAR, rather than the bracket. Reason being is with the wind moving the bracket the foam rubs on the paint. Even the foan will scuff the paint over time, plus road grit gets on the surface of the foam making it worse. You can always clean the glue from the foam off the paint (WD40 or goo gone work) but the scuffing can only be buffed out and only if not too severe. My 2 cents. Learn from my mistakes boys.
