Brandi is in the hospital, and we are starting the exploratory surgery to discover the problem... It seems I might be a victim of Aeromotive... And their fuel pumps...

My last day prior to leaving for work, I went for a short ride and stopped in at a place for a grand total of 40 or so seconds, walked back out and the car had died... Tried to start it, fuel pump is running but no... ZERO fuel pressure... And this is with a grand total of less then seven hours run time...

We are going to drop the rear cradle, pull the fuel tank and see what we see... When this occurred three weeks ago, Corey came to where Brandi quit, and then went to my house to help install the winch, and we used that to load her and get her to the shop...

While the tank and rear section are out, we are going to do a battery relocation and then cut out the wheel well and cover that with sheet metal... The nitrous bottles will sit on top and the parachute frame will be built and installed under there... Well install the parachute frame and bracing, and install an external battery shut off switch.

This is in preparation for my upcoming mile runs...

We also received a box of .120 wall thickness tubing bends and some straight pieces, so the handmade exhaust manifolds will be built over the next few weeks... Then we'll hook up the boost controller and see what we see...

Ought to be amazing...
The real good news is the pump had the courtesy to fail while Brandi was at idle and not under boost

We are going to configure dual 400 l/hr pumps with a Hobbs switch... Run pump all the time and the second one when boost hits 1 psi...

yup, and we need the time... I'm going to pick up the manifold flanges from Glen in the am and then start tearing the exhaust out to start on the jigs... I'll also map out the cuts and bracing for the parachute frame...

When is the mile?
October 26-28...And amen on the being at idle... Nothing was hurt as far as the motor was concerned... As far as we can tell...

So, the rear cradle, the fuel tank and exhaust manifolds are out of the car... The exhaust manifolds include the turbo package... We'll start building the jigs and prepare for the custom built exhaust manifolds.

I'm going to order the parachute frame, mount, and chute itself and we have mapped out the cuts for mounting it....

Thanks Russ for the new Texas Mile Signature

So, I spoke with Bob at Ed Quay race cars and I am on the hunt for a volunteer to take their car there for them to use as a template to build me a spoiler before the Texas Mile Run.

Corey and I are considering a Weldon fuel pump system with a surge tank... The Lingenfelter dual fuel pump system in the tank and a separate cell for the Weldon... The Lingenfelters will supply the cell and the Weldon will supply the fuel rails from the cell....this will provide plenty of fuel for most any situation.

We are still waiting to hear from Aeromotive about what happened with my less than eight hour run time rule pump....

Tuesday we'll start building the jig for the exhaust manifolds... Ought to be fun...

That is what I was going to do with my car too but I didn't want a cell in the trunk. I guess I am still trying to pretend it's a street car.

Ed Quay race cars in Pottstown, Pa?

Just a stones throw from Philly/NYC/Allentown/Harrisburg?

We looked at the twin walbro's and there is a lot of flow capacity drop off at the higher ranges of their capabilities... I'm sure they would be fine for the quarter but we aren't sure with mile runs and open road racing...And that beast you drive is a race car... Street legal, but still a race car, just like mine
