That would be my guess. Just under 50K and from what I understand there won't be many options to choose, like the Z06. I doubt a cloth/1SS type Z28 will be offered.

Besides the z/28 is competing (in the eyes of your average consumer) against the GT-500 which cost $53k if you add its performance package. I bet the base C7 will cost about $60k (about the same as the CTS-V). Besides camaro and Vette consumers are completley different. The vette is a Light wieght 2 seat all out sports car. The camaro is a heavy 2+2 sports coupe. Many Vette owners I have known throughout the years know that it is more than just HP that makes you go fast.
Your expecting the base corvette's price to jump $10K? In order to justify such a hike, they would have needed to show a new powerplant, better interior quality, etc. I don't expect it to move anywhere above a $3K increase.

uuummm .... it is expected to have a new engine and it is supposed to get a greatly improved interior. Now, this is pure speculation on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if its lighter than the base C6.

The Corvette is the Halo car..they need to up it to keep it above any Z-28, should it surface with a LSA motor.

I maintain my prediction: 48,000 or so with an option of (whatever goes here) to push a premium version to over 52+

Of course its also possible they could be complete morons and place it at 50,000 to start.

It should be lighter than the C6 as the engine is physically smaller and they're supposedly also going to use more CF, my guess is ~150lb-200 lighter than the C6.

I was going to guess 3000 to 3100, which is 100-200 lbs lighter than the current base coupe. Engines ... unless they completely redesign their Chevy V8's (which they have never done since it debuted in the 1950's) it will be about the same size and weight as the current ones. On the outside, an LS7 is no bigger than any other NA LS based engine.

2012ish has been long anticipated for the gen V small blocks. Interior, I can't remember. Info on the C7 is scarcer than on the Z28. Oh right, Z28 ...

*clears throat*

How much is the Z28 going to be?

I have herd that Chevy wants to keep it well under the price of the Vette, so I am hoping that means low 40's for cloth seats!
I would gladly trade leather seats for a supercharger!

Then if history stays its course, then the SS would get the new Gen V the next couple MYs after it is introduced in the Corvette. Again I wouldn't be surprised to see the Z28 at CURRENT C6 prices.

I expect CTS-v pricing almost. I wish we had more information, but I will deal with the rapids. As long as there is gold at the end of this river Bring us a Z!

Why do people keep thinking this will be released toward the "end" of 2011? This is insane thinking for a car predominantly driven in summer. Think about it. We're not talking about regular "Malibus" that get released in the fall.

When was the 2010 Camaro released? I'm thinking the same time of the year for the Z/28.

We're just going by what we've heard, then perpetuating it for so long most of us can't remember where we heard it first.

I think when the "rumours" start hitting fever pitch like it has now, we can assume with 95%+ certainty that the Z/28 is a given. I've heard from dealers (recently) who have had GM reps talking about a summer release in 2011 (June-July). This makes sense to me.

Furthermore, the dealers speculated it will be about $10k less than the CTS-V which also makes sense to me. The CTS-V is aiming for the $100k+ M3/M5, and the Camaro is aiming for the GT500. Therefore they will be priced accordingly.

Onto other matters, does it make sense to have a moonroof option on the Z/28? I have never seen a GT500 with a moonroof and I am wondering from a purist point of view whether it makes sense to have a moonroof on the Z? The Camaro will be my "lifestyle" car, so I want one with a moonroof therefore if the Z doesn't come with that option I'm going to go for the SS instead.

Thanks.
