where's the thermostat on a '95 cavalier z24?
hey,
I have a '95 cav z24 (2.3l engine) and apparently I have a coolant leak right next to the thermostat. The guy at the car shop said it was about $300 to fix it and I said "No thanks" (I'm not putting any more money in this thing ) but of course I forgot to let him show me where exactly it is. I'm not much of a car-technician, but as far as I know the thermostat is inside some metal thing bolted with two or three bolts. I just can't find it. Do I have to look for it from underneath the car or can I find it from just opening the hood? Thanks for your help! |

It is in a very bad spot at the back passenger side of the engine below/ beside the exhaust manifold. Probably have to get to it from underneath the car, and removing the metal coolant pipe that goes under the engine up to the back. There is 2 8mm? or 10mm bolts that hold the metal pipe on and the thermostat is in there. Good luck!
