COMPETITIVE MODE AND LAUNCH CONTROL (V8) DIRECTIONS

Note: Competitive Mode and Launch Control are recommended only for use during closed track
events and competitive driving venues. See your Owner Manual.

Competitive Mode

Competitive Mode is an optional handling mode.
• To turn on the Competitive Mode, press the StabiliTrak/Traction Control button twice quickly. Competitive Mode will be displayed in the Driver Information Center.
• Press the button again to return to normal StabiliTrak/traction control operation.
Launch Control (V8 with Manual Transmission)

Launch Control is a form of traction control that optimizes wheelspin while launching the vehicle. It is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill while in Competitive Mode.

When the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor with the clutch engaged, the RPM is limited to a predetermined level. Releasing the clutch while keeping the accelerator pressed to the floor provides controlled wheelspin and acceleration.

That sounds like fun
Is the "pre-determined" RPM adjustable?

What about suicide mode, aka burnout mode, aka no training wheels mode?

Thats bada$$! although watching the review videos for Insider, they launched the car with this option, and to me it seemed as if if took the car longer to accelerate from this mode....... my 01 and 02 SS's would pretty much squat and take off with little or no spin, but they were 345hp and 325hp.... this is 426!!!

I assume you mean traction control/stability control off? It's there as well.

I'm certain you can turn it off as we have already scene Camaros doing burnouts and Livernois had one on the dyno so one could deduce that this is the case.

As for the slower acceleration in the launch mode, I have to wonder if you will be able to "adjust" this via software

Have fun all you spirited drivers!

I think I'll be leaving traction/stabili-control on!

No Way!!! Am I reading this right?

According to "Getting to know your new Camaro":

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17007

"Launch Control (V8 with Transmission):
Launch Control is a form of traction control that optimizes wheelspin while launching the vehicle. It is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill while in Competitive Mode.

When the accelrator pedal is pressed to the floor with the clutch engaged, the RPM is limited to a predetermined level. Releaseing the clutch while keeping the accelerator press to the FLOOR provides controlled wheelspin and acceleration".

Did I read this right?

The COMPUTER will help your car FLY off the starting line? If so, this has to be the coolest feature ever in any GM product!

Yes, you read correctly. Launch control isn't exactly "new". There are other GM model (and other manufacturers) with this feature.

Yes you are reading correct....... "Launch control" is not always the quickest launch. In a one of the reviews they actually turned it off because the said they could launch the car faster without it. Still a really cool feature though!
