in need of assistance

I am trying to get a camshaft installed, when i took it in to get installed they called me and told me the valve springs (Compcam) were unreliable and they did not want to install them because they apparently break a lot. I have a L99 with a supercharger and full exhaust. I need to find new springs but i don't understand anything about valve springs. They came in a kit with the camshaft, they have a Seat load: 129lbs @ 1.835", Open: 470lbs @ 1.160", spring rate: 505ilb/in, and a coil bind of 1.100". Other than Compcams I cant find identical springs. what would be a good replacement set of springs and what would be acceptable numbers for the new springs?

Those sound like Comp 926 springs. If they are than there is nothing wrong with them except they are overpriced. Brian Tooley springs are better value but if you already have those than use them.

The guys who were goin to install them had told me in the last month alone they have had 3 people come back with broken valve springs from compcam. They were so serious about not wanting to install them they wanted me to sign a form sayin its not their fault if my car blows up.

First of all, you need to check what model of spring they are. If they are the 926 they are good springs. There are some comp springs that I wouldnt use.
Secondly, you might consider a different shop if thats the case. It is possible they are installing them without properly checking heights and pressures which might explain the probems they have.
If you really dont want to use comps, than call Brian Tooley and ask him which of his springs are for you cam specs. He knows his stuff.

Comp 918 single's have had alot of problems. Thought I heard you have to watch out on spring pressure's on L99 engines due to the AFM lifters.

I ran comp cams 926 springs on one cam with .610/.617 lift. I have the same springs on my current valvetrain with .614/.624 lift. I'd say they have about 25,000 miles on them total. Several makers have had problems with single springs but when I replace my current set it will be with 926s from comp.
personally , I would be suspicious if a shop made a coment like the one you have described without providing some details to substantiate it. Such as, spring height, seat pressure, and max lift on the cams that were breaking these things. At least something. It just sounds flakey to me. My 2 cents worth.

You need to go pick up your car and find another installer.
We use Compcams Products exclusively without Issues.
