Raising Boost currently 741 RWHP
Hi All
I've seen a Thread about raising boost and i did not want to post there as it will seem as I'm hijacking threads.. Always struggling with PD guys and GTRs. I would appreciate your advice as i've read dozen of threads and seen a lot of builds involving stock bottom end going to my level.. but it does not hurt to check with the experienced once around here. At the end we are here to get educated and this is my first build so new to LS platform. This is my build: 1)Diamond pistons stock ratio 2)Upgraded ring set 3)Eagle h-beam rods 4)Arp fasteners 5)Balanced rotating 6)Upgraded head gaskets 7)Upgraded valve spring kit 8)Chromoly pushrods 9)Head studs. 10)Dual LPE & ID850. 11)1C Livernois cam. (Will be upgraded to 2C soon) 12)Ported Heads. 13)Trunion upgrade. 14) 102 Fast Intake & 102 NW TB Currently pushing 741 RWHP (non aggressive tune with Methanol tuned for Safety only) at 11 PSI on a D1sc. Thinking about raising it between 12-14 PSI. Tune wise i have a really good tuners and an ex-drag racer vouched for by various famous US based engine builders, so i feel safe about this part. Any comments will be appreciated .

Stock combustion chambers on the heads? I'm assuming so, but thought I'd check before I calculated your dynamic compression. After that I can help ya out
Also, do you have your cam card or specs? What degree do the Intake valves close ABDC. Stock rod length? Last edited by 2SS45th; 07-18-2013 at 09:53 PM. |

I used the LS3 stock cam in the calcs because the 1C isn't that aggressive, and my custom blower cam for the new cam to give you an idea.
DC now: 12.95:1 14psi with 2C DC: 15.98:1 11psi with 2c DC: 14.04:1 I'd stick with 11psi and swap that new cam in, that'd be the safest bet with H Beam rods and the stock crank. I didn't see that you had main studs either. Generally, for every point in compression you increase you gain 4% in horespower, so sticking with 11 psi would net you roughly 775whp, 14 psi would put you at 830whp. 800 wheel is where I'd start thinking of getting a forged crank and main studs. |

Only things I would change would be not going with eagle rods and maybe upgrade to ID1000's.

Wow are you a magician ... 774 rwhp to be exact with a little help from methanol then decided to detuned tune from methanol and kept it running for safety until summer blows off.. currently 40c and will be shooting to 50c soon.. And yes stock Stock combustion , Stock length Rods, No main studs Cam spec 218/229 @.050 .600/.600 117.5 LSA.. A simple decision has led me to regret.. Well as you said better off buckling up for a stroker kit as i will not tear down my engine for just replacing rods.

I understand the concept of " got to pay to play" but i'm after running my engine for a while until i'm ready for a stroker kit. So i want to be in that safe zone.

I'm hearing you to be honest. Now i'm regretting going for eagle and not callies. fuel wise i have not seen any shortage of fuel as of yet..
