Film isn't going to do anything if the door is flung open into something.

That being said, I'd much rather just try to be careful than drive around with door edge guards on. Why not wrap the whole car in bubble wrap just in case? lol. It's a car, you bought it because it looks cool (among other reasons, I'm sure). Why do something to wreck that? It takes no time to touch it up. And come to think of it, I've never had my door get away from me, even after 3 years in Texas winds.

I had clear ones on for a while, now I just put them on when I have relatives in the car, they don't tend to watch what there doing when they open the door, a little piece of mind

Gen5 Camaro's have the longest doors on the market as per what I read in a book about the development of this car. So the wind will have more effect on them. I usually park away from other cars so I don't have to worrie about chipping the doors.
I might walk a few seconds more but it's worth it.

Door guards

I too wondered if you can buy them nowadays. They were popular many yeas ago in chrome. Thin, slip-on, ugly, but functional.

I recently (2/13) met a guy driving a Camaro on Daytona Beach with a rental car. We both had SSs on the sand!
He mentioned that he had a black SS at home and would like to have door edge guards like this rental car did. They were black, about 6" long right at the crease.

I walked over, opened the door, slipped it off and handed it to him. He did the same on the other side.

Now, where do we get them?

Nice to have if only to use when shopping in a mall.
