How long do you keep your top down?
Wanted to see what you folks think about leaving the top down all day. On nice days like today, I drive to work and park in a secured indoor parking garage and could easily leave the top down but I was not sure if I would promote creases in the top by leaving it down all day.
Then again running the top up and down all several times a day is more then likely going to cause so issues given the history of these tops. My car in new and I have had the top up and down about ten times and so far so good. Just Looking for a bit of feedback. Thanks! Last edited by Minge; 05-17-2013 at 10:41 AM. |

When we bought the car last year we had the top down for 3 days straight except at night on the trip back from Detroit. Since I guess I have raised and lowered the top at least 600 times in 11 months. Sometimes as much as 10 times a day... Still no problems here. Wrinkles and creases don't bother me as long as I see no wear occurring.

When the weather is nice, I'll will leave the top down all day. I never, however, keep it down overnight. When I'm done driving for the day, the top always goes back up. I do this to minimize wrinkles in the fabric and dust and dirt coating the interior.

When I had my 2011 with top problems a top specialist guy told me that you should never leave your top down overnight. Helps the wrinkle problems. I've left down for a couple of days and it always went back to normal after a short time. (Nothing in the manual on this). I now have a 2013 and when going somewhere I put the top up if I'm parking it for a while, esp in the hot sun. Then down again when I leave. Many days its up/down numerous time. So far no problems.

I only put my top up at night in the summer to keep critters and dust from getting in the interior. Other than that the top is usually down from morning til the evening unless it's raining.
Just like Angrybird, the creases don't bother me unless the top starts showing wear.

Mine is delegafed to weekend warrior duties... top goes down Fri night and back up Sunday night. See the wrinkles in the side rear, but goes away by mid week.

Thanks to all for your advise and experiences. I also keep a lint roller handy as these black tops show everything but a lint roller works great.

As soon as mine goes in the garage for the night, the top goes up if it is not already.
How else can I get that "new car smell" to last longer? |

Mine is garaged and I leave the top down almost all summer except when I'm parking it someplace that I'm going or when I wash it. Two summers of doing this have ben no problem.

Down as I pull out of the garage and remains down until I pull it back into the garage. Only exceptions; Rain, Snow or travelling. Texas allows for a ton of top down days.........(Don't let the sig pic fool you....that was the day it came home...LOL)
