interesting information i picked up today

So went to my dealer today to finalize my order goes in on 5/7 CANNOT wait.

but there was some interesting information I overheard through a open speaker phone conversation going on around me. I was trying to pick everything up but my dealer came back from getting some coffee during the middle of the phone call so i might have missed something.

1) ALL stripes will be dealer installed. The call going on near me was an accessory installer (i think) said he had been told that all stripes being install would be going through the dealer.

2) same conversation mentioned many problems with the hurst shifter. apparently it hasnt even been approved by the manufacture yet (hurst i think, which makes sense). I guess they had someone else designing them and hurst hasnt even approved them yet, so expect the delay to continue.

3) finally there were apparently 3 issues that needed to be reset in the computer not just 1. the only one known was the window indexing but apparently there were 3 different parts that needed to be reprogrammed.

4) anyone in the philly area on may the 8th there will be something like 50 camaros at the phillies game!!! the guy at the other end of the phone said he had all sorts of different accessories he needed to install for different camaros including all sorts of stripes, fuel door, etc. Then i found out that these camaros the next day are going back to the dealerships in the area to go on sale. so if you are in the philly area talk to your dealer or go see that game!

I think they are doing that everywhere. They just had a 50 Camaro convoy in Dallas today. The dealership i ordered my car from will be auctioning off that car on May 6th.They had two at the dealership today from that convoy. One of them they were giving ride alongs (i think, because it pulled up behind me on the way in the dealership),and the other is the one to be auctioned off(which was parked at the shoroom entrance).

Thumbs up

Excellent post Bob.
That should clear things up a bit. Thanks for posting.
After hearing this, I may wait till all problems get "resolved" before placing an order, since I want the Hurst shifter, stripes and "other little goodies" as well!

#1 -- not true -- Cyber gray and white are being installed before shipping.....we are looking to bring the other colors into the plant as well.....but we must ramp up production first....

#2 -- partically true - that's why we are telling people to remove the option - it can be, at a later date, installed by the dealer --

#3.-- there are a few issues depending on car/drivetrain/trim level. Nothing that doesn't happen anytime a new vehicle starts production.

#4. -- true.

They are resolved -- that's one of the reasons that people whose VINS are in the 4000-6000 are getting their cars --

Resolved that's funny maybe resolved at the factory I find it amuzing that they have built and shipped twice as many cars than the amount sitting in Michigan but they can't fix mine.

God, I love that you're monitoring this site and the info being posted....

Now, just declare an overstock on the Impala and shut that line down so we can have Summit White put into production early.... Hey, we can wish and dream, can't we?

Rock on and try to stay sane.

WHat part is true? Ifor have not removed the hurst shifter from my order.
Biggest reason, it will cost me more to get it from the parts dept. ( wich will mark up the part) and pay normal (higher) rates for installation. even when it was dealer installed lpo gm paid the shop a discount rate for labor.
How much longer do we have to wait?
This has not been a very well executed launch at all.

Who owns all these cars? Are they CTF cars? 50 cars in a Dallas parade and 50 cars at a Philly game - CTF's, R6P cars that are in qualtity control or what?

You will be able to get the hurst shifter through GMPP when it is approved, for cheaper than ordering it with your order. However, you'll have to decide if you want to install it, or pay the dealer to do so.

We have known about the hurst constraint for a terribly long time, its not GM's fault.

There are a couple on ebay for sale right now with pics of the parade. Cool pics. Check them out. These are not ctf cars.
