Torn between D1SC vs Whipple :(

I am torn between the two. car is 2010 camaro ss with LT headers w/ cats and exhaust, everything else on the car is stock. This is a DD and looking to have a reliable fun car to drive. Never plan on taking this car to the track. Planning on going with stock pullies unless told otherwise. Ill list what id want for each build.

D1sc build:
-ECS 1500 base kit
-alky meth kit
-zl1 fuel pump

Whipple build:
-whipple 2.9l sc complete kit
-CAI for superchargers

Also for both builds i would also include..
-catch can
-zr1 3 bar map sensor
-zr1 spark plugs
-gauge pod + boost/afr gauges
-mgw sts w/ race knob

Any input would be appreciated!

Couple of things, ECS uses a Paxton 1500, not a Procharger. I say that cause some others will point that out and are more partial to one over the other. I was originally going to go with a Whipple myself, but decided the ECS was better. You talk about not going to a smaller pulley. ECS is already equipped with the smallest pulley so you don't have to worry about that. What are goals?

i meant the paxton, sorry for confusion. My previous goal was 700whp but then i decided to not have a cam installed because that would lead to other things being replaced like the injectors, bigger fuel pump ect.. Now i just want a car thats going to be a whole lot of fun while being very reliable. one reason im kind of leaning towards the ecs kit over the whipple is the power increase over rpm, where it matters instead of just burning rubber at low rpms. Id mostly being doing highway pulls more then ripping it from a standstill

I can tell you from my experience that when I first got mine put on, it was just the S/C kit and the Alky kit. I was at 641wrhp. Headers put me where I'm at now at 684rwhp. The ECS kit, I'm sure you know by now, comes with upgraded injectors and a BAP, so I would put you in the 665+ range.

The power curves aren't THAT different honestly, not something that you should be worried about. Before the cam my car put down peak torque right around 4,500 RPM, with peak HP at redline. Whipple w/ headers, CAI and one size smaller pulley.

I would just like to second all the things Chris82xx has said. The ECS kit is a very complete kit that is an install and go type of it. Now depending on other mods you may already have you might want to upgrade the fuel pump as you said. If your gonna go with the ZL1 pump i'd get the FPCM from ADM Performance which will command the fuel pressure appropriately much better than a BAP.

Personally myself I think the ECS kit is great I don't feel you give up too much under the curve in comparsion to a PD blower. The kit is capable of making some awesome power as it is. I made 844whp/716wtq with the base kit, cam, fast 102 and supporting mods. Not bad for a base kit. I am also will be running an AEM Tru-Boost Controller on my setup to have a very streetable upper 500whp tune, maybe a high 600 low 700 tunes, and then of course full tilt at 844 or whatever it is after re-tuning. The boost controller will come in very handy later on I plan to be over 1000 soon enough.

As of now im definitely leaning towards the ecs kit. In the future i also plan on making those kinds of numbers. Also ill take that advice into consideration.

My only other advice if you want to make big numbers is if your doing the fuel pump at least do a Dual-Pump Setup. I'm going with an LPE Twin with a Boost Referenced Regulator. Should be good to over a 1000whp. If you planning on going higher than 850 you won't make it there most likely with the novi 1500 from the base kit. I'm at the max rpm now making 15.3lbs. Past that your into YSI or something similar.

I meant 850 when i said "those numbers". I would think that anything past that isnt even streetable. I really dont want to have to use drag radials just so the car can hook. 850 is definitely the highest ill ever take it. Whats a good pump that can support that kind of power? i hear the lpe's are expensive.
