Dynatech headers

So i just jumped on a deal for used dynatech long tubes with the 3in catted connection pipe. However my exhaust is 2.5in (solo mach XL).

what would be my cheapest option to connect it to the exhaust?

Do you think anyone has catless that wants cats?

opinions appreciated.

Maybe call Dynatech and see if they have a 3" x 2.5" adapter? Other than that, a decent muffler shop might be able to make an adapter for you.

Yeah im going to call them after I get off work. I know I could probably buy the 2.5in connection new. Just don't know how much that will be.

You need the cat with 2 1/2" outlet.

I'm sure a muffler shop can handle it. It might look a little hacked but it will work.

My concern is I don't want to pay someone to install the headers and I think the 3in to 2.5in adapter would have to be welded onto the catback as I don't think there is enough room on the Connection pipe to cut and weld the adapter in. So do I have to take off my catback and bring it in for them to do it?

install the headers without the connection pipe and somehow hold the exhaust up and drive it to the muffler shop and let them do what they need to do to connect it then?

Is your connection from the headers to the exhaust a cat or offroad pipe? Do u want cats? A muffler shop can mod your exhaust to fit what ever you have after your headers.

Oh no I wouldn't weld the whole thing just the reducer and then use a clamp.

It is a catted system. I wasn't going to go with catted but couldn't pass the deal up. I don't know of any muffler shops that will make me a catless connection pipe.

Maybe you jumped a bit too quick..? Driving open headers to the muffler shop should be quite the ride. Litle88 is right...DO NOT weld on your pipes.

Do you want to run cats or not? If not and you don't want to drive to the muffler shop with open headers, you could measure the length of pipe you need and have the shop fab it for you. If yes, the easiest is to do what Inferno said.

Yeah I might have jumped too quick but even if I have to put a $100 or so into making it fit I still think its a good deal. I'm going to look into the price of just buying the 2.5in connector.

Cats or not does not matter to me.

I hear 'ya. Have you ridden in a car without cats? Not so much a volume issue as a smell....some like it, some don't, some don't know.....

I drove mine open headers with the exhaust boxed up in my backseat! Im in North Dallas and I passed 2 cops on the way there and my heart was beating 100miles an hr. I threw the car in neutral and coasted as I went by them! Luckily no ticket! These 2 guys in a work truck pulled up beside me when I was driving it real slow and you would think they were 2 kids seeing Superman! They were cheesing and giving me both thumbs up, wanting me to hit the throttle!!
