Camaro SS LS3 cammed & nitrous vs McLaren 650s

A buddy of mine works for a guy with a ton of expensive nice cars. His boss wants to go down to the track soon and take a few of his cars with him. The slowest car he has for me to run against is the new McLaren 650s. So I said lets do it. The guy also has a new COPO that I cant wait to see.

I will be running a 175 shot of nitrous as well. Should be slightly over 650 at the wheels. The 650s is stock. From the McLaren forums I've read through, those cars dyno right around 520 to the wheels.

Just for kicks...will this be a good race? I know many factors to include like the launch, but this race really has me wondering if I have a shot. I'm pretty sure from a roll it would be better for me but he's trailering the car down so we wont find out until we can line them up at the tree.

Less "power" but a lot less weight too (right around 3K lbs I believe)....I believe they have a great acceleration rate (about 3 seconds to 60mph) and an advertised mid 10 second 1/4 mile. Would be great to see that car run....my guess is that it will take you (provided equal drivers).

Almost 1000 lbs lighter and AWD with amazing launch control. I kinda am siding with you on the 1/4 pass for both cars. I'd love to be able to race him from a 20 or 40 instead but I'll take what I can. Weather permitting, this should happen in a couple weeks.

It's actually rear wheel drive, but has a lot of grip. Besides the big weight advantage, the trans in those cars is very quick. It's probably going to be pretty close.

Are you on drag radials?

Experience will win.
If the experience, in the respective cars are equal, the Mc will win due to power to weight and AWD.

Have you ever been to the track? If so what does your car run? Says the mclaren will run mid 10's @ ~134mph. I doubt u will be anywhere close to that with a manual trans.

I keep most of the slips from when I go to the track. There are of course a good that I threw away but I did recently count them up and from what I have sitting around still, there's at least 60 slips I've held onto in the last year. So....I have a decent amount of seat time. I haven't been in a few months though. Since the last time, I've had a new twin disc clutch put in and went from a 75 shot to a 175 shot of spray. I honestly have no idea what my car runs right now. I can see possibly trapping close to 130 now but the 60' is what is going to hurt me or keep me out of the 10's. I'm not willing to make any hero runs trying to break mine to get it down there.

Yeah I've seen videos of your average Jo running high 10's with the 650s. No idea how this guy is with his but I'm sure he's no slouch.

True...I'd be happy to win or lose this one. It would be a Camaro vs a McLaren! If I hang in there even a little, I will be pretty thrilled. Ok maybe a little more happy to win. I'm just hoping weather allows this to happen. This tropical storm rolling in isn't going to help.

This is why I love Florida....Down in Palm Beach you can find every race possible between two cars.

ZL-1 vs MP4-12c

Why do you guys all think the 650s is AWD? It's RWD.

Should run a 10.5 if he is a decent driver. And yes, they are RWD, not AWD.
